I meant 2. Planning on getting it for a 12 year old
- Air 2 cannot cut Cricut's Smart Vinyl products without putting it on a mat.
- Even though the Explore 3 is supposed to be 2x faster, they are really the same machine since the 2x speed only is when the Explore 3 is using Smart Vinyl. Otherwise they are identical speed.
- Air 2 can use the old design cartridges, but unless you have these already it's really obsoleted.
Hope this helps!
Yes, you can cut vinyl up to 12 inches wide. Just make sure to get good vinyl that will hold up to water and temperature changes
It requires a $5/mo for cricut subscription to get community made designs and a lot of fonts and clip-art level graphics to use. I had it at first but nothing was really useful except a handful of community-made projects which were fun to make.
You can always do without. Install system fonts from font websites and you can upload your own images and it'll take you through the steps to make it a usable image and make perfect cuts
