Does it not come with a phone number?
AFAIK, most global eSIM is data only, so no, most likely not.

If your US-based carrier supports Wifi calling, it'll likely support Wifi SMS/texting. In my case, I was able to get SMS while using eSIM abroad.

You can test this, while still in the US, by setting your phone to airplane mode but enable Wifi. Then try to send or receive an SMS while your Wifi calling is enabled. Good luck.

If wifi calling enabled you should be able to call and receive calls as well..I'm on Mint mobile, WiFi calling feature works seamlessly..

Many third world countries have lax law enforcement and a lot of pirates on public wifi.

Though Singapore has a reputation for very strict law enforcement.....
Note: Singapore isn't a third world country….Per capita GDP and average salary outrank the U.S.

Requires too much personal information. Would not trust them to keep the data secure. Good luck.
Sadly, you can not trust anyone with personal info or data. I bet most of your data can be found with a simple search. That's the unfortunate reality we live in..

These make great tools if you have an old eSim compatible phone laying around, you can turn them into tracking devices or remote detonators.

FCM and APNs use very little data just for keepalive messages, meaning it could utilize less than 1MB/mo and accept + transmit commands remotely.

Too bad eSIM is fairly new so only newer pricier phones have support for them
