Great deal if it is indeed refurbished by Apple. Woot needs to update their page.
Yes, Woot's employees comment in the discussion that there is a one-year warranty and it qualifies for ac+. And it's woot, easy to return. Amazing deal.

Best deal I've seen from a reputable seller with a warranty on these machines. 16" models don't go this low for a modern vintage. Easy pickup if you're in the market.

You're not kidding. I bought this laptop about a year ago for almost twice the price. The M1 MBP was a huge breakthrough for apple and remains the pinnacle of laptop engineering today (as long as you're not a weight weenie and don't mind lugging around the extra two pounds). M2/M3 are nice but are very minor incremental improvements.

go with this, why spend so much on these electronics with so much depreciation in months.

The only practical difference for the M1 Max is that it supports 4 external monitors (vs. 2 for M1 Pro) and is slightly faster for some very specific workloads that may be able to use all cores. The number of people who actually get to utilize those advantages is a single digit percentage of MBP owners (and <1% of all laptop owners). Do you regularly run out of memory or have very I/O intensive workloads that handle very large files or have more than 2 external monitors daisy-chained on Thunderbolt docks? If not, you won't get much use of the M1 Max.

Can I expect this price to get lower? And if not, will the newer MacBooks ever get around this price in the future? I'm running a MacBook Pro 13 inch 2016 but while it's running fine besides running out of battery a bit quickly, I don't know if this would be worth getting now?

In the product page discussion a Woot employee stated this is an Apple certified refurbished model eligible for for the 1-year regular AppleCare warranty.

If that's true this is an amazing deal. Right now there's a cash back site with 5% cash back up to $50 for Woot. I'd stack it with a 3% cash back on online shopping card like Amex BCE or BoA Customized Cash Rewards.

When you get it make sure it has the regular 1-year AppleCare warranty. This past April I bought my Apple certified refurbished 2021 MBP 14 from Woot for $1400 before tax.

Two months later the keyboard started randomly typing by itself. I babied it and kept it at home on my desk. I dropped it off at my local Apple Store and they replaced the keyboard top case for free under the standard 1-year AppleCare warranty.

When I was shopping for my MBP earlier this year there were some sealed refurbished Macs sold on eBay at a significant discount that were marked "ASIS" by Apple. That means they are ineligible for any and all warranty service by Apple even if you pay for it. I would've been SOL if my Mac was one of those.
