I did it earlier today and there was no problem whatsoever. I submitted the order confirmation while the agent was on the phone and it was confirmed. I checked it afterwards and it is now extended until November 24. Just call again and try it again, I think it depends on your agent. Don't say you called before, just start from scratch. At the end of the day it is your right and some of the agents try to make it difficult. Next time if they deny, get a case number and send it to woot.

Thank you!

I was able to do it on the second call. checkcoverage.apple.com confirms purchased 11/28/23.

Both times the first CSR had to escalate to a specialist.
On the second call, the first CSR mentioned that my device was originally registered on April 19, 2023. She mentioned that she couldn't change the date herself, and it seemed it may have been because it was over 180 days.

I got the space gray MBP with 512 gb. I'm guessing that perhaps the authorization level required and apprehension about updating might increase after the 180-day threshold, which I can understand. Aside from some CSR's being more accommodating than others, this may explain why some people had an easier time updating.

You guys think apple care is necessary? I have had so many apple products and had never an issue. I really don't want to spend another 400 bucks but I also have never bought a refurbished device from Apple.

Use a good credit card to double factory warranty.

Ie. visas signature doubled my refurbished, as long as it has factory warranty

Unless you're a klutz no. I've never drank or ate over my laptop or dropped it or anything

Many people have also not recommended stuff like case but do you believe anything will happen if I use a case, screen protector, and keyboard cover?

AppleCare doesn't seem worth it unless you're spending big money imo ($3k+). If you damage this, you will need to pay the $300 deductible and now you're in the hole for $700, probably what the laptop is worth by that time. All my Apple devices dating back to 2004 still work, I don't really worry about reliability of their stuff anymore and my credit card extends the warranty another year from the 1 included from manufacturer

Same except my 12 inch MacBook I had 4 keyboard replacements but that was under the extended warranty and then Apple said switch it for any laptop you want

They gave me full msrp value for it, and I paid 800 open box at Best Buy for it.

Crazy and, I get a $400 check eventually from settlement

I recommend this case, ive had this SAME brand, same leather version on all my MacBooks since 2015.

MacBook 12 inch, check
MacBook 13 inch intel check
MacBook 13 inch m1 check
MacBook Pro M1 Pro check- bought 2, one for gf and me. she got flowers I got black leather.

Case fits excellent, gives it a premium feel. no worries about scratches and stuff.

also, it comes with a sleeve that fits PERFECT and is HIGH QUALITY, like LEGIT. it fits over the case+laptop. snug as a button. ignore bottom pic,

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09PYW1...tails&th=1

they have 16 inch of this case. buy it. but this is my 14.

(IM REALY THINKING ABOUT BUYING A 16 inch m2 pro next year) for my desktop. but since I can only afford one right now, and I sold my air. 14 is prob what im sticking with unless a steal comes out, but I think all deals are over now.

I called Apple and the agent escalated and said they could only extend the coverage through to June - which was when the reseller (Woot?) acquired the laptop. They would not extend it to my purchase date of Nov 28.

Yep. Same here. Picked up another option in case this didn't go through. I put my order in fairly early and I'm not sure how they decide the shipping order.

I got mine (1TB drive silver) and I've been getting constant kernel panic system crashes while watching video (YouTube). Error: SOCD report detected: (AP watchdog expired)
I looked up the error and it looks like this is a known issue with M1 Mac hardware. Apparently there is some problem with the M1 hardware in particular. I'm returning mine to woot, since it's basically unusable. Sad, because this was a great deal AND because Apple is apparently going down the path of trying to dump their faulty hardware on unsuspecting consumers

Mine was factory sealed refurbished condition and otherwise like new. Obviously the original owner returned for the exact issue I'm experiencing.
