So an update on the demo issue. Apple was unable to remove it since the serial number is registered on the remote management site. Have to return the device to woot now since it's my only option.
thats crazy.

things get cheaper, no fret. after Christmas returns these will be flooding stores

Yes. Weird thing happened though. I was playing around with the laptop while in demo mode. It restarted all of a sudden with "demo update in progress" and now I am able to set up the computer. Not sure if it will go back in demo mode or not.
has it gone back to `Demo Mode` or have you returned it? Apple might have pushed an update to fix it because you have the purchase receipt

My experience with warranty: I called the 1-800-APL-CARE number. First representative sent me an email to upload the invoice. I took a screen shot from the "stuff you bought" section from the woot website which shows the order number price and product etc. She then transferred me to someone and they had me re-upload the same screen shot but with the serial number annotated on it. She then updated my purchase date and check coverage immediately showed the recent purchase date with limited warranty 1 year from purchase date.

The moment I find the 14" version in silver, 16 gb, and 1 TB for ~$1200 and I'll bite!
I just bought a shrink wrapped certified refurb from MC for $1,200 that had only 4 battery cycles, 5 hrs of SSD power on, 253 SSD power cycles, and some 300GB lifetime written to HD. It is a 14" 16/1TB model and pristine as ever. Way better deal than this Woot one was. I think it's about rock bottom these will get in this condition before selling out.

Check a MC near you. They may have an open box available you can get for this price.

Received Silver 1TB today.

Selling my 2019 i9 16"MBP 16GB/1TB in space grey for 1000.

Net about 500 after tax out of pocket to upgrade to an M1 Pro.

RIP Touch bar.
Where did you end up selling your 2019 i9? I have the same model that I want to sell.

I have a different issue with return and refund with woot.
This macbook pro is just too big for me so I returned it. Woot showed their warehouse had received the UPS return and signed by ADAM on 12/11. It's 10 days and I still have not received a refund, although they mention refund will be issued within 3-5 business days.
I have contacted their customer service and they just repeated that 5 business days refund window. It seems the only way to get in touch with them is through email and took 48 hours to get a reply. On woot forum there are a couple other people complaining about similar refund issues. I am not sure it's macbook related though.

Is there anyone in the same situation? What's the best way to get hold of woot and have them issue refund? TIA

For folks having issues with the warranty. I tried twice through the apple check coverage website where it would prompt me to enter the purchase date, upload documentation, and then they would call on my phone associated with the apple account. The 3rd time I called apple support directly and asked to speak with the warranty department. I told the representative I spoke with that I was not successful with a prior rep, so I spoke with woot and they told me to call back and speak with a new apple rep because several customers have been able to update the purchase date. The 3rd rep was able to take care of it within 5 min and required me to send the documentation via email again....

The main thing that was different the 3rd time was calling apple and asking to speak to the warranty department instead of asking them to call me. Also I mentioned that other customers have been able to do it. Not sure if either of these mattered, but thought I would share as I was very frustrated yday.

I also managed to adjust warranty date for a 16inch from Woot that purchased from their Amazon store, they first said Woot isn't an authorized apple reseller, I told them Woot is a subsidiary of Amazon, the rep that I spoke with understood and 15 minutes later they updated the purchase date.
