I guess they keep trying diff variants of the same-ish deals over and over. H&R in general goes for $18-$25 on deals and last several years it has dropped to $20 with a $5 gift card or something netting it for $15.

This is a silly "deal" for a net $20 cost assuming GC=Cash. I just bought from Amazon for $25 last week and had some digital credits bringing it down to under $20 and be done with deal hunting for a better deal which this isnt one...

Keep the stupid gift cards and just sell the software for $20 by itself and I am in.
Funny thing about all tax software. Crap in = Crap out.

Why go through the trouble when you could just buy a $20 gift card?

Same here. Got it from Amazon with 20% cash back on Prime Visa plus bonus tax return offer. Most GC has 90% or less value as one get easily get them with 10% or more discount.

because it reduces the price for hr block deluxe fed + state (including 5 free fed efiles) to $17.99, assuming you use the gift card. I chose lowes. It has no expiry date. Did the same thing last year when it was $34.99 for the same deal and using the lowes gift card was no problem.

You can get home depot instead, but it isn't in my town yet.

Try finding the same program for less than $17.99 at this moment.

You can't.

One year I used HR block and I have a child going to school FT that I list as a dependant

well HR Block screwed that up and I had to do amended returns.

I ended up using an accountant who got me a few deductions in addition........ so unsurprisingly no more HR Block for me.

Funny thing is that this was not all that complicated until HR Block software screwed things up (I quadruple checked my entries)

It ended up a big win for me as it took a while so I ended up getting interest, and just happened to be that little bit extra I needed (in additon to that current years return) to pay off the house.... WOOT WOOT no more mortgage or HR Block.

Funny thing about all tax software. Crap in = Crap out.
