You could always buy a Logitech G29 and clip it to a TV dinner table, but this isn't what you are looking at. This is specifically made for direct drive units with high torque (~12-25 Nm). The F-GT for more average direct drives (~5-8Nm without bracing) sells for $500 and does include a seat, though most people don't like the seat and wished they bought the version without a seat.

I recently purchased the GT ELITE version of this, and all of these rigid aluminum cockpits are expensive. They ideally should be very durable and modular though, so repairs and add-on a should be easy.
This one is designed to adjust between F1 and GT style seating, so it's got a handful of extra parts and a significantly higher MSRP.

I have the F-GT standard. It comes with a seat. The design of it is pretty stupid, but I actually sort of like it as it isn't bolstered. I'm not interested in bolsters until I one day build a motion chassis. Still most people want racing seats that have high bolsters. I don't know if you've ever been in a racecar, but a seat that doesn't fit you is uncomfortable at the least, and impossible to sit in at the worst. It's better in the long run to just offer the seat rails and slider, and then let people get the seat that fits them.
The main reason would be front-mounting things. You will need shims/adapters to have it mount straight.
These are angled so that it improves rigidity, and theoretically should require less parts to mount between the base and uprights (at least, Sim-Lab P1X Pro claims that)
