Seasoning tips:
We followed the below steps for a well seasoned pan:
1. Wash thoroughly with a scrubber, dish soap and hot water until the surface is clean.
2. Pat dry with a kitchen cloth and place it on the stove with medium flame for about 2 mins just to remove any moisture off the pan as it can cause rust.
3. Apply a thin coat of oil on the entire surface area including the top, bottom and handles. Any oil should be fine; I used coconut oil with a small paper towel as it was readily available.
4. Put it on the stove and heat it for about 7-10 mins or so on medium/high flame or until the pan starts smoking. When it is heating you may see some heat patterns on the surface. Stop the flame and let it sit for about 30 mins.
5. Repeat the steps 3 and 4 for at least 3-4 times until you see a nice even shiny surface. Do not skip this part as this is very much vital to get the best non-stick surface.
Maintenance tip: Always ensure any cast iron utensils are completely dry after washing by heating them up for a min or so then followed by a thin coat of oil for storage on the entire surface including handles.
