Toyota's got my attention with the solid state battery tech.
They shouldn't.

They've been trotting out their lies about MAGIC BATTERY TECH every few years since 2009 and delivering absolutely none of it. Every couple years they trot the story out again, pushing back the target date a few more years--- all to encourage people NOT to buy all the good existing EVs they don't sell and to distract from how hilariously behind they are on EVs (see the only actual BEVs they sell today and how hilariously garbage their specs/price are for more evidence of this)

a few examples:
https://www.drive.com.au/news/toy...-possible/
http://www.electric-vehiclenews.c...solid.html

2009 and 2010 story claiming 10x improvements on batteries and solid state prototypes with 2015 as a appearing-in-cars date given.

https://www.autoevolution.com/new...90501.html

2014 story claiming they'd be in mass production by 2020.

https://arstechnica.com/cars/2017...ports-say/

2017 story saying they'd show up in 2022 production cars.

https://www.caranddriver.com/news...tery-2025/
2020 story claiming SS batteries are now coming in 2025.

https://www.pcmag.com/news/toyota...h-932-mile
2023 story claiming they'd be coming in 2028.

Every 3 years, just announce a new 5-years-away date for imaginary solid state batteries so people keep pushing off buying any existing EV seems to be their entire EV transition strategy.

Haha big facts. I mean, my wife has a Model Y Performance for reference here. I also own an ecoboost F-150. I've been driving trucks since 12 y/o out on my ranch. I'd love nothing more than to have an electric truck, but this thing ain't it. Weight is the enemy of EV's, and that's what trucks are designed to do, haul weight. Toyota's got my attention with the solid state battery tech. If they can truly pack almost 1k range in a solid state battery, then we might actually have a piece of the puzzle for legitimate consumer trucks. But as it stands, Elon should have made the cybertruck the size of a Ford Maverick (especially if the goal was making a car with a bed anyway). I really hope EV's start moving to lighter weight models. Would save soooo much on material costs. The best EV we've owned so far was a Fiat 500e. Tiny car with 100 miles range, but it was a 2017 and we just sold it for the Tesla. Cost me $10k in 2020 when we bought it, fresh off a lease. Drove it for 3 years with zero issues.
Toyota is definitely taking the right approach. With current battery tech BEVs don't work for a lot of people. Other technologies like solid state and hydrogen will offer alternatives as well as their line of Hybrids. Already a Tundra hybrid and Tacoma is next.

Toyota chairman Akio Toyoda's skepticism about electric vehicles gained a new level of credibility after Tesla reported disastrous third-quarter earnings.

"People are waking up to the reality," Toyoda declared. It appears that the allure of EVs as an easy road to profit might not hold true.

Toyoda has consistently advocated that electric vehicles are not the sole path to carbon neutrality for the automotive industry. He believes there are multiple avenues to achieve this goal, echoing the sentiment that "there are many ways to climb the mountain."

Furthermore, it's not just Toyota that's reevaluating its stance. Other major automakers are also slowing down their EV rollouts, indicating that the road to electric vehicle dominance is not without obstacles.

Recent events in the automotive industry suggest that the hype surrounding electric vehicles might need a reality check. Toyota's Toyoda stands as a prominent figure reminding us that there are alternative routes to sustainability and profitability in the industry. As the industry adapts to this changing landscape, it will be intriguing to see how automakers continue to evolve their strategies and product offerings.

Isn't the base model 911 already more expensive than the CyberBeast?
the $100k your are spending on 911 isn't for having a ICE that purpose build for beating EVs in 1/8 mile straight line acceleration....

In a motion filed Nov. 20, the DMV accused Tesla of misleading automotive customers with claims about Autopilot and Full Self-Driving with numerous false statements. One example: "The system is designed to be able to conduct short and long distance trips with no action required by the person in the driver's seat." Whatever the design intent, neither Autopilot nor Full Self-Driving is yet able to do a full trip with no driver interaction.

Should the DMV win its case, its legal motion says, Tesla's California manufacturer's license could be revoked, and the company could be required to pay restitution to "persons or institutions who have suffered financial loss or damage."

To be fair- that's MOST pickup trucks.

75 percent of truck owners use their truck for towing one time a year or less (meaning, never). Nearly 70 percent of truck owners go off-road one time a year or less (so again basically never).

Heck just over 1/3rd of truck owners only haul stuff in the bed one time a year or less (so again basically never).

Cybertruck gets saved by Ford F-350

I guess they better stick to drag racing Porsche 911s in an 1/8 mile because it sucks off road LMAOLMAOLMAO

All Teslas, going back years now, already come with AP by default.

But since you're just trolling across multiple Tesla threads regarding AP you already knew that.

No, I did not see that one. Ill have to Google that.

I honestly don't know why they do that. They will be exposed and then they lose all credibility in anything they say,

The cybertruck vs 911 is hilarious. They used the top of the line cyberbeast (LOL) against a base 911 manual transmission. And the 911 was hot on the cybertrucks ass at the 1/8 mile, so another 1/8 he would have ate the cyberbeasts lunch! And the 911 is track focused car, balanced, not a 1/4 mile dragster

Tesla isn't even original with that tug of war gimmick. Top Gear invented this stunt almost 20 years ago (~2004 season) when they did tug of war between 750HP/650tq MB AMG vs 8 pro puller humans. Humans won.

Get the tire spinning on the Tesla, lol good luck, and same 8 people will destroy it too.
