With Microsoft, they're not making that much money on the console. They make it on the games. But they are fully vested in game pass. That's where the real money is being made.
Old normal price of GPU is $14.99. Now $16.99…per month, that is.
The cost for initial production of the newest nodes is extremely high ($10M+) just to order the masks. The only caveat here is that if AMD can simply take an existing chiplet and put it in the XBox, they could potentially provide increased efficiency without a new mask set. Otherwise, Microsoft would need to sell 10s of millions of units to make up for the high initial costs of doing the die-shrink.
All of this to say, I would guess that we won't get something like the XBox One S, which was smaller and more efficient. Instead, we will likely just get the next generation of consoles in 2025 or 2026. You're right to say that if anything changes it will be the SSD. SSD prices have fallen dramatically and going to 2TB would be an easy refresh from a design standpoint.

After 4 failed attempts to buy it online and pickup- they cancelled the order 15min to 1 day after order, last one was cancelled 25min before pickup time and I was already out near the store a solid hour away from home.
I would not recommend ordering anything from Walmart for pickup.
On a bright note- dude in gaming area was quick and helpful, my last cancellation bc "out of stock" was nonsense, just that nobody bothered going to get one from the back I guess.
I assume it's not the same value because the specifications won't be as high as the Series X. Is that correct?
Also, isn't is possible that this version will go to a standard price of $349.99 once the refreshed Series X comes out? It can't still also cost the same as the $499.99 refreshed version.

I think my Xbox One S was 100 bucks cheaper than the Xbox One. But I could be wrong on that.
If there is a refresh of the series X, what could they possibly put in it? I understand technology changes and they have different manufacturing processes which saves power.
