More people would buy these things if they could use them as regular IP cams that don't phone home to China and store footage on Chinese servers. Why anybody would want their INDOOR footage residing on foreign servers and not in their control is beyond me. You own your footage, so why can't you store it so nobody else has access to it? Blows my mind how happy people are to pay for this.
Wyze is an American company (Kirkland, WA) that hosts all there services on AWS (another American company). Seriously asking can you provide sources for your claim that video footage from their cameras are routing to China?

it does not matter you buy solar panel or not, battery operted cameras most are motion sensor triggers, it delayed to turn on camera. Wyze even only offer 12 second recording for not subscribing their monthly plan

This is legit - surprised most Americans don't care about this more - the Chinese are very much pro-all things China but it seems like Americans like to hate on their own country even though it's one of the greatest countries in the world (if not the greatest).

Repping your comment. I had ordered two and then cancelled primarily based on your comment and a few others.
misinformation. Wyze is a US company. Real easy to find this information.

Tried one for 2 weeks, returned. It takes about 10 seconds on the low end for a stream to begin and almost never stores an event to cloud. Unreliable for remote viewing and automated surveillance, making them useless imo.

Too bad Wyze is late to the battery game. I would have jumped on this if I didn't switch to Ring when I retired my NVR last year.

With that said, I'm still running 3 Wyze cam v2 simply for its continuous recording in local storage. That's far superior than the motion-triggered recordings which could be problematic when you needed more. PLUS most motion-triggered recording (Wyze, Ring, etc) isn't reactivated for another 5 minutes, depending on the manufacturer and your setup

Our community has rated this post as helpful. If you agree, why not thank thndrmatt

Given the plethora of negative replies, figured I'd chime in with a positive.

I have two of these set up on either side of my mailbox, using the stock Wyze solar panel, a "XMOX USB Type C Adapter (4-Pack), Micro USB Female to USB C Male" and "ELECTOP Micro USB Female to 2 Micro USB Male Splitter Cable" combination both off Amazon, and both of them stay at 100% all the time (via the one solar panel), occasionally dipping to 99. These replaced the old model that I'd have to bring them in about once a month to charge.

I can read license plates that pass by, overhear conversations of dog walkers, and everything else you can think of. It does take ~5sec to load the livestream. As previously mentioned continuous recording has been enabled but it also captures events and motion no problem. I recommend adjusting the detection zone to ensure you are only capturing relevant items to your property vs neighbors lights turning on or garages opening and closing.

In Sept I paid the $94/each they're charging on Wyze.com right now, that was the initial offering price (plus $25 for the solar panel). Two for $99 is slick.

All the negs in here are crazy. Wyze is one of the best and blows away RING, etc...

99 a year for unlimited cameras is a great deal..

I've been in the market to get away from blink (which has been god awful). Picked this up after doing a lot of research. Even given the potential negatives - this is an amazing deal. Two for the price of one.

I thought I was stealing when I paid $150 last week and got military on top of that! Price match time! Or maybe pick up 2 more. I'll be stoked to get rid of the extra hub from the original battery cams.

I have a bunch of Wyze cams for the inside and have always liked them. Much more responsive than the 10 Arlo cams I use for outside (which have been quite solid, minus delays now and then). So have been interested in Wyze's battery-powered, outdoor options as they come out.

Seems main complaints regard 1. cam not detecting movement at all 2. delayed notifications and 3. lack of local recording to SD (feature "coming soon", apparently). First two complaints are pretty commonplace for battery-powered cams, though that obviously doesn't mean they should be discounted.

All that said, I'll probably sit this one out pending updates. Mostly because I've already spent too much this xmas and Dec just started...and I have too many working Arlos, already Smilie

A review, FWIW:

I almost realized the same thing. I already got Lorex, Wyze and other cams for indoors and outdoors. Despite this being very tempting for my bird feeder use case for next summer, lol I cannot justify this to my better half at least until next quarter. I like Wyze V3, Pan 1& 2 and Home monitoring kit so I can assert that Wyze makes good devices if someone is looking for word of a mouth before getting into Wyze.
