If you read the owners manual, it says transmission fluid never needs to be changed.. which is total BS, so your tranny can break down and buy a new car. Marketing at it's finest.

If it makes you feel better, Subaru of America (unlike Europe/Australia) says the same thing unless you are in "severe conditions" (e.g. towing, short trips). Absolutely ridiculous claim (transmission manufacturer's don't say this), but I guess car manufacturers say this so it doesn't affect the "Cost of Car Ownership estimate."
