Obviously we disagree. The good news is you don't have to buy it.

If you're not looking to spend $800 on a robot vacuum, those same discounts should also apply to the Roborock Q7 Max+. It's currently on an even better sale than the s7 max ultra ($370 off, 43% off) at $500 without applying any discounts or offers, and is not that huge of a downgrade compared to the s7 max ultra. After 15% off followed by 5% off it'd be $403.74, literally half the price of the s7 max ultra.

I've had the S7 MaxV Ultra for most of the year. It runs daily and remains the single best way we've ever spent $1000. In all of that time it's gotten stuck on something, or accidentally locked itself in a room, about 5 or 6 times. We often get alerts about objects avoided.
It's not perfect though, so we do make an effort to keep our floors generally tidy and clear so the vacuum can do its thing.

I already got the Ecovac Deebot T20 (DEEBOT TEO OMNI) through Costco for $700.
Looking online these two seem very comparable but the crowd favorite is the S7 Max Ultra due to the app being more stable and Roborock seeming more popular.

Has anyone had hands-on experience with either and can weigh in?

I've used another Ecovac and the maps do seem to clear from the app more often than I'd like but the obstacle avoidance is really good and I don't do much updating on the map. I'll be using it primarily on hardwood floors and the on-water storage for the S7 Max Ultra seems to be an advantage over the T20 which has to go back to the docking station. I'll have about 650 sqft between a few rooms to do. Receiving the T20 from Costco does give me a bit more peace of mind with their warranty.
I had the t10 Omni through Costco but returned it, somehow the spring loaded chamber opened and I couldn't find the other piece. I also wasn't a fan of the object avoidance. I had a rug that needed the lifting mop feature so decided to return. This might be a little better with detection and avoidance, but essentially the same.

Now I'm curious about the ecovac x2 at Costco, mostly with avoidance. Costco return is king too

Thanks for sharing your experience, and experience with the S7 max ultra for comparison on the avoidance? reviews show the T20 better at avoidance

That should tell you something. You paid $1000 extra for auto empty? lol stupid reason if you ask me.
More than just auto empty, you have water refill/empty, mop clean and avoids cat toys, wet pet food, accidents, etc.
In your situation, you're probably fine with the $300 robot. In my case, having to not concern myself if the robot is dragging pet food, pet waste, etc along the floor while I'm away is the piece of mind I'm willing to pay a premium for

I brought it directly from roborock with 10% id.com discount and I got it for $908 including tax - chase 5% cash back which is $45.4. so total I paid $862.6... I hope I got it for a good price.

After having a Q7 Max for a year, almost every run something gets caught ...
If you keep things laying around on your floor, no robotic vacuum will work. Just get used to it [meaning keeping your floor clear of debris]. I did it ~15 years ago with my first robo vac and have been happy ever since.

It is not about the robot price. It is about cost of your time. My last 2 robots purchased cost over $1000. If it chews a random item like low voltage charger cord, I know I have nobody to blame but myself.

Glad you had a good experience. I however did not. They sent me two defective "refurbished" units. I can deal with once, but twice? I wouldn't recommend buying refurbished from Roborock. It's almost like thew are throwing the units up against the wall to see what sticks. I did return the second unit for a a full refund and purchased a new unit for like $75 more. Love the new one, with no issues so far.
Don't know why experience is so much different. What I receive is new and clean. Anyway, it is never a good experience getting defective consecutively

I exchanged the Q7max+ for the Q Revo during the Black Friday sale. The Q7max+ lacked the ability to independently detect carpets and can't clean and dry the mop. In contrast, the Q Revo not only cleans the mop every 20 minutes during use but also ensures it's thoroughly dried at the end of each cycle. These seemingly minor features can make a substantial difference, influencing whether you use it daily or it becomes a neglected fixture due to the hassle of frequent manual cleaning.

I just got mine! Thanks for the post OP!

About $110 more than what I paid for the Q Revo a couple weeks ago. Nothing wrong with it but prefer the slightly better obstacle avoidance on the S7.

I have Save 15% on Home purchase, but it cannot be applied to RoboRock.
Check periodically, for me it showed as Deal then it didn't then came back again.

Neither one of mine were new. Both had obvious signs of use.

Is it noticeable? I thought the Max Ultra used the same collision sensors of the Revo

The S7 Max ultra is the one you want. That thing empties the old mop water then drys it's mop pads. Big advantage for a little bit more.

I got a refurb Q7 Max+ (+ just means with docking station) from their eBay sale, and it's been great so far. Mapped well, vacuums well, and the app is fantastic for labeling rooms and no-go zones. I'm glad I didn't go for a more expensive model because this one has been enough so far. Not too loud unless it's auto-emptying the dustbin. It hasn't gotten stuck unless I left a stray cable or shoelace in its way.

The main difference I see between this one and the S7 Max models is the ability to designate a no-mop zone that still gets vacuumed, where the Q7 has all or nothing zones. Nice to have, but not for double the price.

Actually, I am now able to use 15% off. Probably it takes time to take effect after I added the offer to my account. I also have another 5% off for order pickup makes the final price 767.12. Not sure if I should get this one or waiting on my S7 MaxV Ultra replacement (the $695 refurbished deal, but I got a defective one)

When was the s7 maxv ultra for 695? I have been watching but most I saw was 800s on ebay.

There was a 20% ebay promo that took the price down to $695. There's currently a 15% code all over the site that takes the same refurb model down to $740 + 2 year allstate wty; not bad. Certainly better than the Max Ultra(unless you would rather have an integrated mop dryer instead of the improved obstacle detection+camera)
