This seems to be the going price for a 6gb model on eBay. There are better cards for the price.

I'm in the market for 1080 gaming, mid-tier graphic card. I've been out of the market for many years. Any recommendation / price guideline? Maybe a little "future proofing" for 1440p gaming.

Depends what games you're playing, and I assume you're meaning 1080p resolution, not a GTX 1080 card. Referencing a 1050 on Tom's Hardware benchmarks for Diablo IV (modern game which has modern but not extreme graphics requirements) you should be getting 60fps easy. Reports for the new Modern Warfare 3 say you need a 3060 or better to get 30fps.

Looks like vega 56 can be had for a similar price, I used one for a while playing games in 1440p like Forza horizon 5. For a 30-60$ you can find 5700 xt ,rtx 2060, or 6600 xt which are all pretty similar in perf depending on the game.

Thanks for the recommendations. Yup, it's for 1080p gaming. Mostly FPS. I should've clarified that earlier. I'm using OEM RX 580 4GB card currently. Price range, around $80 to $120.
