These were made in china like many other household items. It would be really nice if they were made in Germany.

They do have their higher end ones that are made in Germany. Unfortunately, those cost a lot more. Down

Why would they put a full bolster on a Santoku smh. You -maybe- can get away with the curved belly, but come on lol.

For $5 more you can get a Zwilling western 8" chef knife made in Germany, but no set.

31118-180 HENCKELS made in Germany forged FOUR STAR 7" is $40 on sale at Zwilling. No bolster. I had to keep checking back since black Friday as it goes out of stock within an hour of being restocked. The hollow edge version is the most useful kitchen knife I have. Shipping is free w minimum otherwise $7. If I could only afford one good knife then this would be it. High quality stain-free steel that keeps an edge. Well balanced thin sharp blade without significant flex which I much prefer to the Chef's for produce.

edit: The $40 deal only appears on their Black Friday page. The sale price is still valid if shown even if temporarily o.o.s. Four Star is a premium line fully made in Solingen Germany forged hardened polished edged sharpened and polished by craftsmen.

China does have some high end knives that compete with other countries. I've only ever seen their lower quality ones on slickdeals.

Made in China isn't a bad thing at all if you do your homework.

Picked up some of these on sale. They also have great customer support.

This set is complete trash. Plastic on handle starts cracking over time. I attempted to use the "warranty", despite having proof that someone in their office signed for my package, they don't have it. So not only was the warranty no good, I also don't get my crap knives back. Sworn off forever.

There's no mention of the type of steel used and made in China. I'll pass. "High carbon Germen steel" means nothing.

That may be true but I'd rather buy from a company/factory that doesn't use slave labor.
