I agree, it sucks, but it's not all that hard. Get a large personal-item sized backup from Amazon and you should be able to back a week's worth of clothing in it (assuming your visiting a warm weather place). Use toiletries from the hotel and crap any other small things you might need from a store once you're there.

beats me. That's impossible. No idea why this would fit the general public. This most likely is for business people that just go for one day. I thought it was a good deal until I see " These are basic economy fares, a restricted-type fare that only allow a personal item. There is no seat selection, no carry-on bag and no change. "
It's cheap because families are forced to pay $35 for a check in bag. Most probably needs at least 2, that's how they make their money back from bag fees

Can you divulge your secret for united BE and 3 free checked bags? I just booked 2 united flights and BE would have been almost $100 cheaper on each one. (I booked regular econ to earn miles and have seat selection, not for the bags).
High status on United, 1K or Global Services. Many paid flights with some in premium cabins, or prepay them $50k per year (soon to be 75.)

Even if it's $300 RT it's still pretty cheap.

That's the result when airline owns Congress. Imagine if taxi, Uber, or Lyft starts charging passengers for carry on bag or luggage.
Congress gave the airlines BILLIONS during covid, and they still pull this sh*t. Gotta love America!

I still hold the opinion that Basic Economy and/or other restricted fares should be banned from this site.

Geez, don't give out these ideas for free. It makes sense to charge though since your luggages are probably causing extra wear and tear on the cars. It's also causing higher consumption of gas.

Don't worry though, I'm sure some think tank has already come up with this idea. LMAO

What I do is wear four layers of clothing. I would wear three pairs of shorts and then one pair of pants. Then I would wear four t-shirts and then two sweaters and a jacket. Don't have to bring any carry on at all

I couldn't agree more. This is bullsh**. Don't forget the billions of dollars bail out by taxpayers after 9/11. Regardless which party you prefer, just remember, you are expendable to both parties. You and 99% of Americans are pawns in their game of chess.

The only question is which party would you prefer to ream you in the rear.

How do people travel with spouse and/or family without any carry-on?
I traveled to Florida for a 2 week trip with my wife and toddler using only our "personal item" backpack. We had a car seat bag packed to the brim, which travels for free on any US Airline + a "diaper bag" which is pretty much just another personal item.

Ah, and wear your bulky clothing, if you have to bring it.

Tourism is messing with Hawaii's economy? I'm sorry but in what world would their economy continue to function if tourism stopped?
