eSIMS have been around since 2016-2017. Google Pixel has had it on every phone since Pixel 3 (or Pixel 2 if used with Google Fi). Pixel 3 can be had for about $50 on eBay, or $85 like new on Amazon. Your argument is incorrect. The companies want eSIM customers because it's less work and less expensive for the company to issue and initiate new service. If the customers that are attracted also happen to be the customers that pay their bills on time then they're not going to be mad about it.

Does Hotspot actually work on this plan?

In my account it is showing 10GB Hotspot available with 0 used.
However when enabled the Hotspot does not work at all. Tablet is showing connected with no Internet. I have an unlocked S20+ that is not Metro branded. Does the Hotspot require a metro branded phone to work?

Does anyone know if this plan can be used in routers made by Cudy, Gl.inet, etc ? My idea is to sign up for a BYOD plan with a Galaxy S20, then replace the IMEI of the router with the phone's IMEI, change TTL settings, and then swap the SIM from the phone into the router.

I've done something like this on Cricket for a month and none of the 250 gigs of data that I used was recorded as hotspot data.

Just wanted to note that if you go to the Metro website and click on deals, when you scroll down it advertises the A54 available for 49.99 if you get a new number. It also says that when you click tell me more. However, when you put it in your cart it charges you $149.99 if you want a new number. Just a bit of false advertising. Intentional or screwup I don't know, but I called them and even talked to a supervisor and they just told me they didn't see the same thing. I mean, I think a web page is a web page, isn't it? I have to think they were outright lying when they said they didn't see the same thing. They told me to go to a store. If it was a screwup, they should have given me the deal and fixed their website. Very poor company policy/customer service. This was as of 30 Jan 2024.

I think the no hotspot comment in the OP is incorrect unless they changed it recently. I got this plan about 4 months ago and I have 10GB hotspot limit per month. Also I've went over 35gb and didn't experience any throttling after in my area.
Same, have working hotspot and I just signed up yesterday

No, mint uses t mobile for their service. Metro also uses and owned by tmobile. So any t mobile number is not eligible for port in. Metro also uses ID verification when you go instore

Old comment but same. I use hotspot a lot on visible+. Probably tether at least 30gb/month.

This is incorrect. T-Mobile numbers can be ported.

I'm hoping to swap over a recently purchased phone on a $40 plan to this $25 plan retaining my original phone number I port in while also continuing the unlock process. This would be a sweet deal.

I am hoping that there is a knowledgeable user that knows a solution because Metro's customer support has been completely useless.

As you know, now they have port-in promos you can order through their website. I was trying to do that and went through the process, including setting up my account pins. Then, when it got to a page where it was reserving a port-in number, it failed (I forgot to unlock my GV #). It said to start over, so I unlocked my GV # and was going through the process again. But, when I got to a page called "Account setup," it tells me that I can no longer edit info on this page and that I should proceed to payment or exit out. That's fine and all, but the "continue" button is grayed out, so there is no way for me to proceed despite what it says. I've wasted so much time trying to get help from Metro without any solutions. If anyone knows any solutions, please share. Thank you.

Mint numbers can be ported, however, they won't qualify to get the $25 deal

This offer excludes phone numbers currently active on T-Mobile or active on Metro by T-Mobile in the past 180 days.

This is also not true as I had to go to a Metro store, but I am on the $25 plan and I ported a Mint number and used a recently unlocked samsung A54 5g from another Metro deal last July

That's what the fine print says, yes. But that's copy and pasted from phone rebate promos -- it's not enforced as it relates to this offer.
