Purchased one of these a couple weeks ago at the same price for BF/Cyber Monday and I'm very happy with it so far. Great looking screen, snappy performance, feels solidly built, good battery life so far and not a ton of bloatware. I would recommend it for a non dedicated gaming all around solid performer.
Absolutely not.
This is only the 4th or 5th time that it's going for this price, I reckon, 2-3 of those times were in this holiday season and the other times was months ago, not "every other week".

They put it at this price coz it sells so much. Everytime this deal has at this price has made it to FP, over here. Also, the fact that it's going for this price often is a foreshadowing that it might get even $50 cheaper than this by Christmas.
Very few ultra books have GPU. Not everyone needs or wants want. .
Either way, you won't find a better laptop at this price. This has set the bar for new pricing. Laptops have crashed in price through 2023, finally.

I feel like there is a conspiracy going on. While not a bad laptop by any means. This is usually listed at $999 but marked down to $699 basically every other week. At this point I think they are just doing it so people will think "oh a GOOD deal".

It isn't every other week. It would be at the $999 for quite a while. This laptop hits all the marks except for a good video card. The battery life is good but what this laptop shines in is the screen. it's 120hz and an OLED.

I have the i5, 8 GB version of this laptop. I like it quite a bit. The screen and speakers are quite excellent. More RAM would be nice, so I'm tempted to take the plunge.

Best buy has returns through Jan 13th on most things purchased for holidays if it does drop in price even further, or if you're straddling the fence.

I've had this for a few months and overall, it's great. The battery life is not though. I always find myself reaching for the charger but I'm still happy with the purchase.

Same, I knew what kind of battery life I was going to get since it was OLED, so far it's been a great laptop. I've been getting decent battery life when setting brightness to 3-4 lower than max and with hdr off.

I think this is very good deal for what you are getting. Me personally - I am hesitant buying an ASUS, knowing their history of technical support and warranty returns. Though my experience going years back.

Nope. Been watch it for a while now the other time was not a month ago. It was basically last week or so.

I don't understand your second point. If $699 will sale well then why not just keep it at that price point? People will continue to buy then? Right?

Also not saying it a bad laptop. But at some point you just have to wonder why. Also not trying to start anything. If someone wants to come out say just say this is a "market thing and that's how you get people to buy things" I'm fine with that too. But there is no point arguing about oh it's not every other week it's a month ago and such. Let's just put it this way it's on front page often enough that I don't feel $699 is a new deal anymore.

Wasn't looking for a laptop with a gpu. I own this laptop and it's great for its intended use out in the field.

Yeah I'm getting like 5-6 hours if I cap the speed at around 2ghz with like 80% brightness and 120hz.
I use a black background and dark mode browser, and use it to study stuff with Anki.
The one cool niche thing for me is that it works with both of my portable laptop power banks, while some of my laptops with GPUs don't work with one of the power banks I had bought way back. So, add on an extra pound to your baggage and double your battery life pretty much.

16GB is a bummer but the only Zenbook-like laptop I saw with the 120hz OLED and 32GB is the larger 15.6" model and the cost is like... $300-500 more. The ones that have GPUs are even higher closer to the $1200-1500 range. I'll probably use this for light work and even put Linux on it later.

The OLED 120hz is great to have. Touch-screen is a nice bonus too.

The CPU is great and it runs cool so far which is surprising. I guess that's the benefit of not having a GPU in it.
It's not as light as I thought it would be but lighter than my other machines.

I'm switching from HP to ASUS for this very reason. They repaired the broken hinge on my Envy x360 and returned it to me with a new ding on the back of the screen. Communication has been terrible. The initial repair estimate was 2 months -- for a broken hinge! I've opened a case with them to try and resolve this new issue but I don't have all day to sit on the phone or the patience to keep trying their bug-ridden support chat app that crashes every time I've used it.
