Not saying it's a "bad" deal, but CCC shows this at $3.99 for the past year. Lowest historical price is $3.49 back in 2016. Not sure where $11.08 retail comes from.
It appears this is the usual price for these.
Plastic is great all around. It doesn't scratch, dent or ding softer materials. Ive had this exact square for years and only yesterday did the tip break off as a neighbor dropped a brick on it while building a new fence. Worth mentioning the width of a square is perfect for spacing fence planks. Just keep your neighbor away from both ithe square and bricks.
Full retail on this is $4.19. Anything over that is just the retailer inflating the price. You can usually find these for $4 any day of the week. Here it is again at AcmeTools[acmetools.com] for $3.99 as well. Pretty sure Swanson also sells a multi-pack for a few bucks more and it comes with multiple sizes plus a little handbook guide for measurements.

I'm not a fan of the Hyper Tough version. The 1/8" tick marks make it difficult to run a pencil along the edge and get a smooth line. The Swanson version has thinner tick marks, so lines should be smoother. I prefer the hi-vis Craftsman with contrasting black molded measurement lines - nice smooth lines.

I really like it, but I understand, everyone has different preference.
For those of you that have never used a speed square it's a very handy tool! Yes there are a lot of little details on it for rafters, angles, and straight line marking but at the end of the day it's a great tool for construction grade right and 45 degree angles.
I have a cabin and do not have a miter saw there so I installed 1500 square feet of pallet wood on the walls in the basement recently. I used the speed square as a guide for my circular saw, while not a perfect 90 degree angle it's pretty darn close (this is not for fine woodworking and cabinet making where precision is very important.) Thousands of cuts later the speed square is still going straight and being and 8" square this is good for crosscutting a 2X8 piece of lumber.
Last month I used it with a utility knife to score and snap laminate flooring I was installing, so much quicker and cleaner than using a miter saw.
Still using the same Swanson plastic speed square and it sits in a tool box full of heavy tools and has not chipped or broken yet.
Had this for a few years and it finally broke before my outdoor project was done. Replaced it with the pro, which is much better, and was on sale for $9 at Lowe's during BF. Do ur self a favor and get the pro so u can use it outdoors when the need arises.

If you want easy to read, the Doyle one is really nice. They're $9.99 so you can use a 30% off coupon when they appear.

Speed squares are thick enough to work as a saw guide on rough lumber.

Sadly I need one of these to make sure my 3D printer is square
