As a firefighter I just want to point out that all smoke alarms, regardless of brand, need to be replaced every 10 years (from date of manufacturer). And most CO alarms are only good for 10 years, or some brands even as short as 5 years. After this time period the sensor has degraded to where it won't alarm properly. So hence the law and NFPA standards to replace every 10 years.

Combined CO and Smoke alarms are also less effective at detecting CO in many cases because CO tends to mix in with the air rather than rise to the ceiling like smoke. (CO is only very slightly lighter than air, so it doesn't really rise.) Generally speaking you want your CO alarm kind-of in a middle height, like on a wall.

I like these for what they are and the features are great, just the cost is high compared to non-smart alarms considering they all need replaced every so often.

I hope this information has been helpful for some people.

The two of mine have been up for a couple of years with path lighting on and haven't needed to be replaced yet. It's prob a YMMV battery thing.

EDIT: I just wanted to add that one of them gets constant use for the path lighting at night daily and its been fine.

That's not right. I have one battery-powered one and it's been connected for several years now without draining them.

This would only be the case with the battery ones, right? I'm guessing the ones that have power from the house only use battery as a backup source.

This is why you get the hardwired version. Modern code requires hardwire anyway

Used mine about 5 years before I needed to replace the batteries in them.

edit: some of yall said it lasted a lot longer. I guess mine came with bad batteries? I'm still less than 6 months into my 2nd pair of batteries
I just replaced mine after about a year. Only replaced them because "regularly replace fire alarm batteries". Using the old ones for some Christmas decorations right now, the batteries has plenty of juice left.
