i went into a t-mobile store. the promo *does* work with kickstart and you *wll not* lose your plan. You can trade in *any* phone even if it's broken, cracked screen, does not turn on.... pretty much anything. I went in kind of late and traded in a verizon samsumg s7 that's in perfect condition.
the edge 2022 will go up to android 15 and will receive security updates till 2026. had to pay $85 total (taxes and $35 fee) / 24 = $3.55/mo.... i'll ultimately drop t-mobile if they try or remove my kickstart but so far i've been pretty happy with them. repped.
edit: the entire internet states the phone will receive security updates till 2026, however, i found the moto edge page with direct info from lenovo and it states:
Currently receiving regular security updates.
