Have been using these for 3 years. Front towers, center and subwoofer are amazing. Bookshelf rears are not so much.

that's a lot of power considering these are 8ohm and 90db on sensitivity. Are you sure it needs "minimum 100W/channel" ?
I have a Denon S970H and it only does 90W/channel I think. It can't drive these speakers?
It can, see my response below yours.

The Klipsch sub will probably go a bit lower than the Jamo, but overall I'd go for the Jamo set, especially because of the front towers (assuming you have room for them).

Yes, I am eyeing them for the towers, wish the offer was on white ones as that would have gone with the living room theme and wife-approved.

Hi friends .. I have a quick question with Dolby Atmos. Do these towers have Dolby included or is it just ready and that we have to buy additional components to make it Dolby Atmos. From what i gather, you need to buy those "S 8 ATM topper". This is confusing and help please. Thanks.
You have to buy 2 additional speakers. They sit on top of the towers on 4 metal nubs that fit into holes on the bottom of the Atmos speakers. This also connects the electrical. It's a secure fit.
The additional speaker wires connect to receiver at the bottom of the towers.

I just pulled the trigger on these. I'm wondering if anyone has luck with Atmos speakers in high ceilings? Mine are 14 feet.

Movie theaters typically have ceilings higher than that. Your receiver will have adjustments to compensate for distance. The only issue is having a tall enough stepladder.

ETA: unless you're talking about using the tower-top Atmos speakers, in which case I can only speculate that the sound will be less localized compared with a lower ceiling.

i purchased these speakers (2 different sets) and the sub a couple of years back. while they are not your highest end speakers $$$$ they are very decent for their price. the first sub that i received was doa, but the retailer replaced it. its decent for the price, but nothing like a $500+ monolith. laugh out loud

Most center speakers suck. It's a comprised design. Lots of folks getting into home theater are misinformed that they "need" a center. A center was designed for one purpose…lock sounds to the screen for people sitting off to the sides so they don't hear a character talking on screen but it's coming out of the left or right speaker…whichever they are close to. If you sit between your speakers, a center isn't necessary.
Yes, but we all don't have a luxury of sitting right in the middle of our set up every time. In a small room you can only physically space the towers so far apart… And when I watch with my wife and end up having to sit in front of a speaker. Having a good center really does matter in this case. I had one of these Jamo centers, and it was not cutting it. Finally upgraded to a Klipsch reference center and it was an incredible upgrade (also ditching my Yamaha for a Goodwill open box Denon with Audyssey XT32. Smilie)

Do you have the 81 or the 83? I have both and the 83 is better than the 81, but all 2 ways centers that share this driver layout are going to have some issues off-center.

The sensitivity of these is 90dB, which is pretty close (+/- 3dB) to most modern speakers. The difference between 50W and 100W is only 3dB (audible, but not a major change), and the position of the volume control (or in most modern receivers, the volume display) has no relevance to the amount of power it puts out, only that higher volume means more power. Additionally, the majority of your listening time, you're using under 1W/channel.
Are those manufacturer specs? They're usually off quite a bit. Need independent measurements.

""""while they are not your highest end speakers $$$$ they are very decent for their price."""

Probably most accurate statement in this entire thread.

Of course. What are you basing your statement on? Most speakers are not independently reviewed, so we have to go by manufactures's specs.

Do you mind sharing the Klipsch model? Are you pairing it with the Jamo towers?
