FYI, the S24 series is supposed to be announced next month. Google Fi should have similar deals on the S24 series, like they did on the S23 at launch. I think the launch S23 deals were even better than the deal listed in this post.

The cheapest is the $20 Flexible Plan (unlimited talk/text, any Data used is $10 per GB, prorated). The taxes & fees usually add another $6-$7 a month. Percentage wise that sounds high, but some of the fees are fixed-amounts per line so they skewed the percentage. Some people in Texas have taxes & fees as high as $10 each month.

I did the Fi pre-release S23 deal in Feb this year. My S23 (with free upgrade to 256GB) was $299.99. So it was better than this deal. Plus the trade-in values at that time was great. I traded in an iPhone11 for $310 which pretty much offset the cost of the S23. My net cost was $27 in sales tax on $299.99, minus the $10 in excess credit.

It was mentioned in the news that only S24 Ultra will have Snapdragon, S24 and S24+ will have Samsung SOC (most likely much worse as usual)
I think that's outside US, US and China versions always get snapdragon.

Was hoping for a "stay on Fi for 30/60 days" deal. Might as well wait for the S24!

The offer ends on January 17, 2024, which is the rumored launch date for the S24 series.

Better service? Seems like both are deprioritized TMO service. And with Mint. you can definitely get it cheaper than 30 if you are willing to play the game. No games with Fi.
This is incorrect. Google Fi is actually NOT deprioritized. Mint is. Fi has the same priority as T Mobile's own plans. I am pretty sure the same as their own post-paid plans even. This was an important consideration for me when I switched.

False, Fi shares priority with T-mobile customers and Mint is one step below.

Ok? Im not arguing Fi is a better deal, just that pricing is far from terrible. Try to keep up.
IDK. Depending on what you want/use, it can be a better deal.

I have my family of 4 on the Fi unlimited. It is $80/month plus taxes, so like $86.

But we have prioritized access to TMo network of up to 35 GB data per line. (As you point out, Mint is deprioritized, and it costs $30/line/month for a comparable amount of data and only if you buy 3 months at a time.) Fi also allows free watch service, which is a nice perk my wife and I both use.

I think Fi has been an excellent deal for our family. Really haven't found much to compete.

And then when you throw these recurring $300 to $400 off a phone sales, which effectively amount to a free upgrade if you trade in or sell on Swappa, it is an even better deal.

It depends on the location. Did the Teton Crest Trail (Wyoming) in 2018, and spent the first night at an area called Alaska Basin. We are deep in the mountains, mind you. Was shocked to find signals on a T-Mobile phone and actually make a few phone calls. ATT and Verizon phones in the group didn't even pick up a bar of signal.
Agree that it depends on the location. I've been pleasantly surprised that our mint service (tmo) works well in plenty of parts of Vermont where you might expect otherwise.

I currently have T-Mobile. I'm considering buying this, the $25 cheap plan ($20 plus taxes/fees), put in my T-Mobile sim and put the Fi sim card into a drawer. After 120 days cancel Google Fi ?

Total cost would be $360, $25 x 4 months = $460 total for a S23 256gb. Am I missing anything?

Don't forget to add sales tax on the phone, if applicable to your location.

Worst service I ever paid for. Their customer service is horrendous. My email was hacked so Google no longer could figure out who I was or how to cancel my service yet continued to charge me. I eventually just cancelled that credit card. 🖕

When I click on "Get a new number," it says the promotion is invalid with this option. My goal is to use a different service on this phone. What should I do?

"How to get this offer
When you buy or finance the Samsung Galaxy S23

Activate the phone on Fi within 30 days
New and existing Fi customers are eligible for this offer
New customers must port-in (transfer) a number to Fi
Remain active on the qualifying device for 120 days"
