I received an email earlier today from T-Mobile saying that one of my lines (which currently has an iPhone XR) was eligible to upgrade to a new 5G phone for free to better take advantage of the network. I am on the Simple Choice North America Promo plan with several free lines so this seems like it must apply to a lot of plans.

The fine print in the email (see images in link) made it seem like it was limited to just the Moto G 5G (meh), so I reached out to T-Force via Twitter to ask if any other phones qualified. They confirmed that the iPhone SE 3rd Gen, Nokia G310, Nord 300, and REVVL 6/6X also qualified, but that you had to complete the transaction in store.

I had to go to the mall tonight so stopped by the T-Mobile store after confirming that my account was annotated and the SE was in stock and was able to upgrade to the 128GB black model for the $35 support fee and tax. Bill credits seem to be in process.

You may want to reach out to T-Force to confirm and have them annotate your account as that definitely helped at the store.

I was able to take advantage of the June 2022 deal for another line that had an old iPhone on it so it's been nice to get a couple upgrades for the kiddos.

Hope this helps a few people.

Hmmm, I must have missed something in the OP originally then, yes you are right. I don't recall it having as much info as it did before.
Not sure it was clear originally. I have both offers, so it is easier for me to compare. I did the first offer already, haven't tried this new one yet. I'll still do it if I can get more iPhone SEs. Not sure it is worth the taxes and headache for a cheap Android phone. Plus, I wonder how that would affect being able to upgrade the lines that take advantage of this promo. Like will it kill promo offers until the 24 months is up??

I wouldn't do it for a cheap Android, only the SE.

Definitely not worth it for the cheap android.

I had 2 older devices that qualified for the retirement. 1 iPhone 4s qualified for the Se 3. The other one only qualified for a cheap android. I tried to get the Se 3 but the manager called up and said it was not possible.

Currently have 2 lines each using an xr, no emails yet.

I just called the customer service for my old device and the rep gave only these phone options

Motorola moto g 5G 2023
Nokia G310 5G
OnePlus Nord N300 5G
T-Mobile REVVL 6 5G, REVVL 6x 5G"

I need help in deciding on the phone Which is best for battery, performance, and international usage (bands)??

They have to call in to their support line. At least that is what happened when I got the 2 SEs on the 2G/3G retirement offer.
Is there a specific number or department for them to call? I went to the store for one of the 2G retirement and the manager didnt want to bother calling so I tried calling using 611 and they were just as clueless

Did you show them the physical mail and/or the email that you received for the 2G shutdown offer? (that has the last 4 of the line number)

Those that got an iphone se, did you do it in-store or over the phone? I have a 3g flip phone on one of my lines and have gotten numerous mailers/emails about the 3g shutdown

Had a grandparent with a flip phone. Had to go in store. They only offered a cheap android. I forget which model but I have it somewhere since they can't get the hang of a smartphone.

One line had a 4s. That one qualified for an se 3.

For both, had to go in store. The manager overrides something. For the flip phone, he had to call in because I asked to try for the se 3 but they only gave him android options.

I don't know why you have to go in store for everything with T-Mobile. I miss Sprint. Had it for over 15 years and never had to visit the store for anything, could do everything online. And never had any issues like I'm having since T-Mobile took over!

The Android options are all pretty similar, all very low-end for performance. The Nokia G310 might get better software support than the others, and both it and the Moto are a fair bit newer than the Revvl 6 and Nord N300.

It is their internal sales support number. I am not sure what they call it or what the number is. Basically, it is for them to escalate when they don't know what to do in store. Wouldn't surprise me if it is T-Force on the other end, but I am not sure. Someone else might be more familiar with it.

I did. They weren't buying it. Said no such deal. Another store tried to bs it saying it was for older version of SE which they don't have in stock for a very long time

It is really sad T-Mobile Store is behaving like this.

If your existing line is on iPhone, I can confirm the document they should look for is "2022 Trade P6" (yes 2022), and everything should be zeroed out at the POS - need manager to override. I got the SE 3 just a few days ago. I think you could go to Twitter to ask T-Force about the situation and see what they say, and better get it done before end of 2023. Hope you will get the phone eventually.

*** This is only for 2G Shutdown targeted phone line, not for this 4G deal

I suspected that only older iphones are eligible for the iphone SE. All others can only choose from the android lineup
