I also own two lodge Dutch ovens. 5 and 7 quart. Had the 5 qt for over a decade. It works great and no chips.

I'll never understand the dumbasses that thumbs down legitimate questions.

Anyways, I've this and Le Creuset of similar volume (but wider and lower). The Le Creuset is much lighter and the ceramic is slightly easier to clean. Now is it worth the extra $200? That's up to you. They come in very nice colors but we use both our dutch ovens equally and neither does a better job doing the actual purpose of the cookware which is cooking.

Yes, these old style Lodge were Chinese made. But they're still really good pots.

Don't use steel wool on enameled cast iron, its too rough. Course salt & water, or use a stiff nylon brush or nylon pad, which I use. Also never pour cold water on hot enamel, its a shock to the material which will cause popping or chipping. These require more delicate cleaning to protest the porcelain & its surface.

To re-season my pan, I use the butane torch hack (the kind that uses those cheap butane fuel cans https://www.amazon.com/Legendary-...r=8-5&th=1 ). It works very well indoors. I've tried the typical oven methods and outdoors with a grill, but I like having a shortcut. Scrub out cast iron using hot water and a little soap if necessary. It keeps the surface oil from going rancid if you don't use the pan for a while. I've read all the Reddit comments poo-pooing this method, they're ignorant, this works.

I seasoned several cast iron dutch ovens and skillets in my Pit Boss smoker. 450 degrees for 1 hour using avocado oil. Oil smell is outside instead of in the house.

Bon Ami and Bar Keeper's Friend are also great for cleaning enameled cookware. They have just enough abrasive to clean and remove stains without damaging the enamel. Been using them for ages and have never had a problem with enamel coming off. Salt works too, but then you have to wash again with detergent to get any remaining greasy stuff out. The other products are one step and done.

Amazon is a 6 qt & oven rated up to 400, sloped sides. Walmart is a 5.5 qt rated upto 500, straight sides. Two different designs. Both are made in China.

Le Creuset won't warrant chipped if it looks as if it was abused. They only warrant normal wear and tear. All porcelain will chip, no matter who made it, if it was banged around.

FYI I saw this dutch oven for sale in store at $19! I went to buy one however the price wouldn't ring up and I was advised to wait in the customer service line. I didn't have time to wait and decided to come back the next day. They were all sold out...
