Do you have an example of this happening?
Even without an example buying a code for a country you don't live in and using a VPN to redeem it is going to be a violation of your account terms and conditions with Microsoft. It would be at their determination if or when they act on that info. Something not happening doesn't mean it can't.

Probably best to use a dummy account for this.

Why would this be a ban? People could have homes in other regions. What if your grandparents live in Argentina and you spend the summer with them, but you live in the US for the school year?

You're gonna get banned because you purchased and redeemed a game in Argentina but live in the US for most of the year? I highly doubt Microsoft is banning accounts for this specifically. It is likely that they are banning for another reason because the above reason is a legitimate use case.
You're LITERALLY spoofing you an Argentina Argentina IP address for a few mins and the next time you open anything with your microsoft account signed in (outlook, xbox, bing) in with an American IP address. It doesn't take a genius to know you weren't really in Argentina.

I'm waiting for it to release on Game Pass. Maybe in a year? I'm a patient man...

I'd be careful doing this. It may result in getting your MS account a banned on xbox.
This is true. I bought many games from eneba but after seeing plenty of bans for using VPN ofor Microsoft Rewards I am not sure what Microsoft could do...

Their terms and conditions say they can revoke access to your account for whatever reason they decide. They have an IP address history on your account. They'll know if you're legit or not.

A year from now they could decide to do account sweeps for activity like this and go back a few years banning all accounts that did something like it. They may not ever check for this. They may detect it and not take action. Either way it's risking your account to do it. At any time, not just when it happens they could revoke access to your account for doing this. I'm not risking getting my main account with all my digital games revoked to save a few bucks.

Just a heads up. I have bought codes from Eneba in the past that had already been redeemed. If this happens you will receive no refund. So there is a bit of risk involved in this transaction.
I received the wrong version of a game once and still got a refund. Eneba support was very helpful. I was a skeptic for a long time but now use them regularly. Heck, I used their Gamepass codes to get a few years of Gamepass for cheap recently too.
