They are very much meant for budget users looking for appealing looks. Not high quality, but fine for a couple years if you don't want to invest much in furniture right now. In my experience, almost everything in the sub-$500 furniture space is cheaply made and almost everything is from overseas.

Any suggested alternatives?

Great deal! I got this chair 1.5 yr ago and paid $155 on sale. At $93 it's a steal. Not a large chair, but good for an accent chair

Is this chair comfortable? Comfortable enough to read a book on, or is it one of those chairs that are aesthetically pleasing and not really comfortable.

Look on fb marketplace for high end used furniture in good condition. For instance, I got a leather couch that was originally thousands for $200. Lots of good solid wood furniture people just want to get rid of.

Honestly, I prefer buying used at like a habitat of humanity. You get much better quality items I furnished a lot of homes for staging and honestly they got some great stuff.

Wish it was a different color for the bedroom corner to read and set stuff on. I don't mind buying used furniture but only "hard goods" - no couches, sofas, chairs, mattresses, etc.

Risk of bugs or other allergens is too high, not to mention people are disgusting (piss, vomit, blood, semen, etc.). Part of the reason I don't even like hotels (although a necessary evil in traveling).
