Got the OB-Excellent for $633. Bummer they didn't have OB Fair for $606 around me. I think it's a good deal. Hopefully Samsung laptops are more reliable than their refridgeratorslaugh out loud

Not sure why would this not get more love. I think it's an excellent deal for thin and light touchscreen.

For me, there are 2 reasons:
1. Not 16:10 screen
2. History of similar Samsung laptops having cracked screens.

I was not aware of that. On the outset the laptop looks great but knowing Samsung history of doing their utmost to avoid the the warranty support (infamous French door refrigerator story), this now makes me wonder if I should cancel Frown

Turns out there is a lively discussion on reddit regarding this: https://www.reddit.com/r/GalaxyBo...n_cracked/

Thank you for not making me "prove it" like some people in this community like to do anytime you say anything remotely negative.

What makes the situation worse is that the problem was also reported in the previous gen book2.

Which laptop won't you complain about their "history?"

Lenovo hinges, Samsung cracked screens, Dell kicks dogs, HP's are bad tippers. Honestly, which laptop doesn't have some problem according to the internet? Amazing how the professional complaint department never recommends anything.

Dude complains about EVERY laptop having some problem. Millions of units sold, you can find a common theme among any manufacturer if you cherry pick data for more than 7 seconds. Especially if reddit is your source. Bigfoot is a common claim on reddit...I probably wouldn't change your hiking habits over the creature. And of course asking for proof of bigfoot is a big no-no.

Yes, proof is silly. Claiming something is close enough to it actually being true Wink

And why is proof a bad thing. If your goal is to spread information, don't you want to make sure that information is reliable and convincing? Otherwise...what is the point? Might as well be standing on a street corner screaming THE END IS NIGH. Do you take that dude at his word?

I bet you can find plenty of "reports" that say the opposite. Crazy how that works.

How does this compare to asus zen book that was recently listed for $700 other than the screen size?

I got the galaxybook 3 360 i5 8gb for $699 a few weeks back. Should I return and get the 16gb i7 for $50 more. Is the I7 gonna have worse battery life??

Yes, i7 won't be that bad for battery life however, 16GB vs 8GB would definitely be great for longevity of the machine!

I am just curious. What would it take for you to believe that a laptop has a reliability issue whether it be a cracked screen or a broken hinge? What proof are you seeking if other's people reports are not enough? You yourself having an issue? Serious question.

The guy you posted literally offered up a reddit thread full of people who have issues with this laptop including pictures as well as comments from other people about issues with the previous gen.
Yes, and Lenovo's have hinge issues, Samsung's have breaking glass, Dell's overheat, HP's have battery problems, Gateways are low quality Yes yes yes, you can find all of that on reddit as well. You can also substitute any of those brands AND problems...and also find that on reddit. Oh and bigfoot, UFO's, and flat-earth. Again, funny how that works.

Hence my legitimate question. Can we stay on topic?
What question? Asking if I was having a personal "issue?" Very on topic question.

Now, back to my legitimate question and on topic issue. WHAT DO YOU RECOMMEND AS AN ALTERNATIVE? Well other than a paper notebook and #2 pencil because so far that is the only combo that seems to meet your impossible standards of 'reddit says.'

Lol exactly what I'm wondering. What does an extra $50 give us? Smaller screen but has a 360 hinge hmm

That zenbook packs a lot for the money but I would say the main difference would be the screen size (as already mentioned) and more importantly the weight difference (2.56 vs 3.44 lbs). For some people that may not matter, but for travelers it is not insignificant.
