More like shitty info.

Not the camera. Cam hardware is actually quite competitive.
It's the One+ cam software which can be improved by side loading 3rd party fork = GCam.

It's open box because they need to unlock it. If it's sealed then you have to go through all that TMobile BS to get it unlock, you have to go through hell trying to get tmo to do it and I'm one of those sucker.
Must be different from the OP 8. I bought it sealed from OP. All I had to do once I opened it was open some T-Mobile app already installed and hit unlock.

I disagree. The level of bloat (forced uninstallable apps that most don't want) is absolute minimum on Pixel, & the AI features are pretty nice, if one cares about that type of thing (and live translate feature). I'm not saying those things should place it above One Plus, as I've never used that brand, but I'm responding to the fact that it's the only standout feature. None of my pixel devices have felt cheaply made, but I've only personally experienced Samsung, Motorola, LG, and Apple devices, recently (i was a huge fan of windows phone, too, so maybe i just have bad taste, lol).
The first point of minimum bloatware is actually true of OnePlus as well (and tbh I feel like a good amount of companies are sticking pretty close to stock Android such as Motorola and Nokia), though definitely to a lesser extent than Google. Still, it's quite easy to uninstall the rest. I was actually super excited for Live Translate on my Pixel but it somehow never actually worked; might need to reset my phone or do some clean up.

I agree with you on the Windows Phone point though! They were so damn fun and really fluid. Wish it was still around today.

I agree Pixel delivers the purest Android experience, and I appreciate that a lot. But reading ppl's complaints on the SoC, especially the modem, makes me hesitant to own a Pixel. I guess I will just stay with a Snapdragon device that has the minimum bloatware.

Yes, I would avoid it. I would go with the 10T or 11 if I want a Oneplus again (I use a 7T now). Also, I would avoid any t-mobile unlocked phones b/c various bloatware and restrictions installed in them. And it's not easy to remove them.
I just ordered a Motorola Thinkphone and will take delivery soon. I have very high hopes for it after doing my research. It is also using a 8+ Gen 1.
I got a OnePlus 10T for my wife, but recently bought a Thinkphone for my sons first phone. Wife will use it on Christmas but she has been very happy with her 7T so far, but the volume rocker switch fell off last month hence the new phone. That said I really like OnePlus phones to date; and their battery / battery charging is industry leading IMO.

My reasons for the Thinkphone were that it was VERY durable, non-bloated OS, good price, good battery and very fast charging. This seems fit for a young teenagers first phone. It also filters insta-hoe girls who will only associate with iphone users, but thats a niche benefit for a dad like me. I was very impressed with the Camera on the Thinkphone so far; it rivals my own S23 FE (not ultra) and is very fast to load, shoot and capture faces. Motorola has a real winner here IMO. We'll see how it lasts.

I was over on the Thinkphone thread and that thread was invaded by Samsung shills spreading FUD over the security update concerns with Motorola. THere is some merit there, but I've never had a security breach on my phone in my life its a distant concern for me. GL with your Thinkphone. Peace

I had the Pixel 7a and initially I can confirm the stock software (kernel) was hot garbage. Constantly overheated; battery drained FAST, modem would take forever to handshake the T-Mobile towers, etc.. I then tried the Android 14 beta train in the software and ALL these problems went away. My work had given me a Samsung S23FE so I use that now, but I can 100% confirm the Android 14 worked out all of these bugs and the phone is solid (good all day batttery, cool /not hot, and quick 5G connectivity throughout US and Canada (I travel a lot).

I have no complaints about the soc they got bad ones been using pixels since 3. Used 6, 7 pros and 8 pros. I'll admit my 6 had hardware probs I sent it back to Google and they sent me a good for the year I was good the 7 pro came out no issues whatsoever using on T-Mobile att and then Verizon and no issues on 8 pro on Verizon since I got it

Deal killer: No MicroSD Card Slot / No 3.5mm headphone jack
You're stuck in the past buddy, I'd say bout 4 years behind.. Name a flagship that still has both features. Theres a USB-C to 3.5mm adapter that should be compatible with just about any phone. You can also buy an OTG cable (USB-C to female USB) that you can plug just about any USB device into, including a micro SD card with an adapter. Wouldn't recommend it though as read/write speeds are ~40 MB/s. If you really need local storage, use a 3.0/3.1 USB thumb drive, they're way better, 200-500 MB/s
