I use Chemical Guys Extreme Body Wash & Wax Foaming Car Wash Soap (CWS207). I dilute it when loading the foam cannon (about 90% water, 10% soap). I'm considering buying this because right now I use a Sun Joe pressure washer and it's a pain to set up (and put away) every time I wash the car. Plus, when moving around, sometimes my garden hose, the power cord, and the foam cannon hose get tangled up. If I can the pressure washer, it might be worth it. Of course the trade off is I won't get the strength of the pressure wash, but I think I'm willing to give that up as I don't really need it for washing my car.
Make sure you watch a review or two on YouTube about this thing before you purchase. I decided not to. Not a replacement for a foam cannon, not much better than a good old wash bucket and mit…it sort of just lightly dispenses foam onto the car. Not really sure why you'd spend money on this. Just my $0.02.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08LMYXKKM This one is $24.49 + 5% coupon. These are one of those amazon products that has dozens of 3rd party listings for virtually the same product. If you bought the chemical guys or griots ones.. oof you paid for the brand.

unfortunately the pressure washer is vital to the operation to get thick, sticky foam.
i have two similar items to this, and a cheap and an expensive one that are for pressure washer use. the pressure washer units both (with properly diluted soap) make nice foam, the hose units (comparatively) make more like soapy water☹️
they are perfectly OK but they are NOT similar
(i am an amateur, and i also hate lugging out my gas pressure washer that never has any gas in it and fighting the hoses - but by the time i'm going to wash the car I lug out the pressure washer because the thick foam saves time in the long run)
What is the point of all that foam don't you need to use a sponge to scrub off the dirt anyway ?
Why not just put done soap on a sponge do you foam up all your dishes before washing them with a sponge and rinsing them ?
How is the pressure different than a garden hose spray dial?
Night and day. I had a chmical guys one that you connect to a garden hose. It blows. Pressure wassure gives you that soapy effect you see on YT.
However, both will work fine..the thing is, for the pressure washer variant, it seems like you get a cleaner job - but it's no different in my opinion.
Source: I wash my car every week. Apply my own ceramic coating as well
Ditch the Sun Joe(like I did) and get something like an Active 2.0. Add a couple of mods/upgrades and you can have a killer home setup(if you live in a house).
It's basically regular priced. I own it, I wasn't blown away for $30.

Can you suggest a quality pressure washer? Bonus points if it's affordable.

I have had this for 5+ years and pretty sure $30 was the normal price when I bought it.
It's lasted this long so parts are good quality and it does what is advertised; spray out soapy water. I usually ignore the recommended mix ratio and just set it to use the highest soap ratio to get the most bubbles.
My only complaint is the soap reservoir is too big, especially if you're just washing a single car. Even at a quarter full, and the highest mix ratio, there will still be a lot of soap left. It wasn't an issue when I had time to wash the car weekly, but now I go months before I have time.

Mr.KeroroHow is the pressure different than a garden hose spray dial?
I personally prefer the Ryobi 1800. It goes on sale every now and then at $99 from HD. I had an older pressure washer that had wheels and storing it upright took up a lot of space. These smaller units fit on shelves/cabinets for easier storage.
Gas pressure washer tend to have more PSI so you get that airy foam. Electric pressure washers don't have as much PSI but over the years they've gotten better. I don't see the need for a gas pressure washer unless it's for commercial or daily use.
Then go on amazon and find a pressure washer foam gun, longer hose, and quick disconnects. Just like this deal, pressure washer foam guns work about the same, it's primarily the pressure washer you use that gives you the thicker foam.
5 years ago I bought manual pump foam spray. It works quite well, I can get about half of sedan car in one fully pumped/pressurized session. Much less hassle then pressure washer route. More air, more water, and less detergent is the key. https://www.amazon.com/Goizper-Gr...f9840&th=1 It looks like the newer version has an air compressor charging port so you don't have to hand pump.
In addition, swiftjet look to be wet foam producer. That means the water run down very quickly. You want dry foam, spray the foam and get back to it in 30 min. Let the dirts slowly rehydrate before washing! The quality of foam make a huge difference. Pressure washer gun also produce dry foam!
