If you don't care about the apple brand, you can get an Anker one for the same price and it's much smaller in size than this one.

Because I don't like getting little electric shocks when I am using my laptop. It's usually not so bad with 110v, but it gets pretty noticeable when you travel internationally (where 220v is used). I'm not sure if grounding also helps with longevity of the connected devices.

It's hard to find because there is no benefit to grounding an AC to DC power supply with a non conductive case.

Did this comment get 6 thumbs down because people love apple that much or because there's a problem with this specific charger? I'd prefer the anker due to it's size.

I find plenty of benefit, because without grounding I often feel electric shocks on all my Macbook Pros.

I think the price of the Anker was $30 when I posted it and now it went up to $35 or something on Amazon. But the price average is around $30 it will come back down soon

I personally stick with apple chargers when there is a deal.
I've gotten the $15 20w charger brick for friends and family.
Some have had cheap dollar store or gas station chargers and it messed up their battery. I don't trust them at all.

I remember seeing on reddit someone used a pichromebook usb-c cable on their iPhone 15 and the pro on the 15 burned a bit.


if you are buying this, get it from Best Buy, less chance of getting a fake.

The ground does not continue to the DC side of the power supply. Use a multimeter and check resistance from the ground prong to the usb C plug. There is no point to the ground. Connecting DC minus to ground can actually cause issues. Sounds like you have faulty laptop if you're getting shocked.
