Our current one won't die just yet, it's a fighter, but it's starting to make noise, will make ice regardless of water level (it makes tiny contact lens size ice if low), and the lid falls off lol.
Even though it works, this is a good enough price to keep it as a backup until the other one finally stops working.
Our fridge has the ability to make ice, but we prefer these ice machines because we can easily use water that's gone through our Berkey filter first. ✌️

Never fails. Someone brings up an alternative and never posts a link.
Care to explain? Is it better to buy in cash in person over online & shipped for returns?
Seriously, get one of these and use distilled water and you'll thank me later. The look of clear ice in an old fashioned just adds to the enjoyment.
Agreed on top of that, most of the new refrigerators with ice makers have an expensive water filter ,and even if that filter is replaced, the water doesn't taste good, same with ice
But she didn't notice right away, and the slow drip behind the refrigerator rotted out the floor. Had to rip out the whole kitchen, the whole floor, bring in mold mitigation specialists.
I don't know the total bill, but it was well above $10K to fix it. It scared me off of using an ice maker in the refrigerator, and I've been looking at these ever since.

"The guy with the beautiful ice?" đź‘€
Damn you better be sure they don't have an accent and they think you have a beautiful something else.
I set a deal alert for an "ice maker" and guess what, .... still no alert. Damn SD!
You absolutely cannot put tap water in these. Anything with impurities. I only have to clean mine once a year because I use purified water in it. There's none of that white icky build-up and the machine lasts waaay longer. 3rd year and going strong….

Mine is broken and I don't feel like disassembling the fridge to diagnose it.
