I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

Although, it was far too small, but worked great for just me which was majority of its drive time.
I opted for a Ford Maverick hybrid and will see what Mazda has again in a few years.
It's a really good looking car in a time where even top-end cars look fugly.
The interior is also great and looks luxurious (my partner has top of the line model with the napa leather), with only a couple obvious minor improvement that could be done like making the display screen a "touch screen." (my 10+ year old toyota has this, why doesn't this one?)
On the downside, this car gets horrendously awful mpg (maybe an average of 15 mpg).
In contrast; I have an 11 year old prius hybrid and get 45 mpg. In times of raising gas prices, this is a huge drawback, especially if you drive/commute a significant distance daily.
I believe Mazda now has a couple plug-in CX models, but that doesn't help those of us who don't have a place to "plug in" at home.

Got wife a 24 Forester last month at invoice. Have to say, overall we both like the Forester better than the CX-5. But the CX-5's heated seats actually heat up lumbar area which I wish all heated seats did.
Rented a BMW X5 last week for a couple days in AZ. Nothing compares to that baby. But with a $70k price tag, Id rather buy a CX-5 and Forester and have money for gas left over.. lol

Relatively speaking, CX5 is cramped inside, 2nd row is noticeably smaller. It feels like sitting in a tunnel.
Mazda I4 engine is a bit quieter when accelerating and less laggy than Subaru CVT. But the CVT is much smoother and quieter when cruising 50-70mph.
That's my experience after having all of those 3 cars for a week last year. All 2023 models, premium trim. I would pick the Subarus over the CX5 any day, they are just more comfy IMO.

Come to think of it, I drove my wifes up pikes peak and did plenty better than that. You may have an issue if you are burning through fuel that fast.
