Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

it's a recall. How the recall is done is irrelevant. Legacy OEMs also do software updates as recalls.
It's very relevant. A recall implies physical work on the car, which causes a lot more headache for the consumer and costs for the manufacturer.

Ironically was going to buy a Mercedes, they had a 30% markup, so went next door for a Cayenne Turbo. Very fun! Now I'm on a Taycan kick, but that V8 was glorious. 0-60 in 3.2 in an SUV is insanity. I can only imagine the GT variant but that's closer to $200k+ and I'd rather a Urus.
Model X Plaid is 0-60 in 2.5 in an SUV for 95k FYI, though there might be other reasons it's not for you.

Most (poor ) people won't get full 7500.
Good news- the new IRS guideance currently means as of 1/1/24 there's no such thing as too little income to get the full $7500 as a point of sale credit.

Quote from Lilyly :
my income is too low to collect that full $7500 in tax credits
See above. Though of course as of 1/1 certain specific trims of one model won't qualify for the credit any more, but the rest will and lower income no longer restricts getting the full amount.

Citation required.

Can you please give some examples of legacy cars fixing recalls via OTA updates?
(I ask because outside of infotainment updates almost 0 legacy cars can do OTA at all, let alone fix recalls with them)

Quote from Rickety_Cricket :
The media loves brain dead sheep like you lol. Do you only read article headlines? It's not a recall. Tesla has to send an OTA software update.

Not only that, the only thing the update/"recall" is really doing is increasing the font size on the DO NOT DRIVE LIKE AN IDIOT warning when you turn AP on.... the couple other things in the release notes were things the SW already did, they're just highlighting it (the option to activate AP with a single stalk pull for example)

We have a Legacy right now, and I'm just over the Subaru platform. The CVT is such a turn off. It always feels like you're winding up a rubber band when you hit on the gas, and THEN it reacts later, which that lag is so frustrating in stop and go traffic. It might be a little too "soft" because it's also a vomit rocket for people with motion sickness.

We rented a CX-5 in Denver this year, and the driving experience was so much better. It feels low on power (so does the I4 Legacy but we're complaining about that, too) but I really enjoy the pseudo comfy/pseudo sporty driving experience. My biggest gripe is the infotainment system.

I wonder if there is a year cutoff for the loyalty discount. I still have a '94 MX3 and '96 MX6 in the garage... I feel like that should count?
They seem pretty flexible with it. I recalled on website it specifically calls out cx9. But I got my 2012 Mazda 3 and it counted. They did ask for registration though

Damn you should never use a phone or computer cause they gets recalls weekly or monthly too. What a joke.

I bought a Chevy Traverse LS brand new out the door for 36k including tax at 2% interest for 36 back in October. Not sure if they still do the deal but Chevy was giving 5k off MSRP and 2% for 36 months. The thing is huge and my wife absolutely loves it.

Lmfao who on Earth would buy this thing for more or less the same price as a Tesla???
That only gets you a standard range no options rwd model 3 car. Its about as apples to oranges as you can get.

Plus i looked into it, the $1000 a year in ""gas" i save on the model 3 is eaten up by the extra $100 a month insurance in my area combined with the $300 a year in dmv fees to "pay for the road".

Give the carbon edition a shot. It's a nice in between the basic model and the most premium trim for less than $32K.

You get premium audio, auto lift gate, pretty sweet leather seats (the red is the way to go, they are not too bright more between reddish and brown, looks fresh with the machine grey color of the car) and black rims (the rims get dirty and dusty pretty easily)

I feel like Batman driving in my "night" edition.

It's not gonna blow you away with technology but safety wise it has all the important ones.

It looks better than the rest of the inexpensive SUV's but that is of course subjective (and coming from a Mazda fan boy)

I dont understand the point of buying these new. You can get a clean, recent low mileage used for thousands less, and these hold up, so the few extra miles aren't going to mean much.
No you don't. I was looking for vehicles and was interested in the CX-5 and the Hyundai Tucson (also 0% apr)

Certified used 2-3 years old was only about 4k less than the new vehicles and APR was from 7.5% to 11%) so unless you are paying cash you will end up paying a lot more at the end (for a used vehicle)

Non certified were about 6k-7k less but with a ton of mileage, those without a lot of mileage were selling for prices close to certified

No it doesn't. You clearly don't work in the industry so are ignorant on what constitutes a recall.

I don't need to work in the industry to understand the difference. I don't know what it's going to take for you to understand the difference, however.

And that's the sole reason I'm not going for this. I need a new car but in 2023 I am not buying something with the kind of MPG that this thing gets. Unfortunately it's only the less desirable cars that get these kinds of promotions.

Getting a "hint" from someone who is clueless is pretty ironic. I appreciate the laugh lol.
