Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

the redesign better include phev and the battery better be lifepo4 batteries not shitty regular lithium ion.

the heat charging issue for lifepo4 isn't an issue for hybrids its a strawmans argument by the ev community that only use cheaper liion batteries that are cheaper but much worse and need more maintenance thus costlier in the long run for parts and service.
I love the way the CX-5 drives, and the 6 speed really stands out in the sea of CVTs.

A hybrid would be nice for whoever wants maximum MPGs, but hopefully it doesn't ruin the dynamics. I've driven the Sportage and RAV4 hybrids, couldn't stand them. They feel so heavy and bouncy on uneven roads.

I'm personally completely ok with sacrificing some MPGs for a better driving experience.

Which dealership? I'm on Long Island and will be spending Saturday shopping for a carbon edition as well.
Mazda of New Rochelle, in westchester.

You should be able to get 8-9% off sticker at any dealership. If not, just go through a broker from leasehacker. There are a few that work with NY dealers.

Look at dealers inventory on their sites and go to one with a lot of CX5s on the lot.

if you don't want an electric vehicle or hybrid
If you want an EV, Tesla prices are insanely low right now. Grab a Model 3 for the total cost of ownership of a Toyota Corolla, or a Model Y for the cost of an Accord. Unless you need a gas car, or rarely drive, a Tesla is almost always going to cheaper than all but the absolute cheapest gas cars across ownership.

of course if mazda could make the rotary engine work then it would be fine.
all the engine would be is thus just a reactor to generate electrical power for the battery and thus not need as big of a battery.
perhaps a 1.0 liter rotary engine and a 100mile battery lifepo4 of course so it can recharge many times. meaning a 30-40k battery.

lifepo4 batteries last around 3000-5000 cycles. of course that would be 300000-500000 miles then.

thus the battery replacement can be cut down to size.
ideally also also include solar panels on roof and hood should generate 600whr in ideal conditions and thus provide 30 miles of range per day.

lets be honest all ev companies refusing to do these things alone puts them to shame. easy solutions and very cheap at that but refusal to do this for profits.

maybe just do this ourselves.
find a way to wire the battery with our own flexible solar panels we make ourselves. a windshield solar panel can be made to produce 100-300 whr btw some on youtube already posted this.

the hood and top of car is another avenue. connect them all beneath the surface to charge systems. maybe make a indoor outlet to charge systems that feed into the main battery. Shouldn't be that hard. I have a design in mind already.
not like the sion as the design is more practical and anyone can do it plus cheaply.

my design of a ev is hybrid - total ev isn't useful enough yet unless they make it easy to remove batteries and install them yourself. another easy feature but most refuse to always copying APPLE method to waste resources and force people to waste money.

easy way to do this:

Swappable batteries manually: not just for swap stations catering to the wealthy.

Most manufacturers make their cars worthless to diy types like me because we are not going to generate them any revenue for good designs that let us fix things easily. thus most manufacturers by design make their vehicles hard to repair and hard to swap parts all so they can make as much as they can. its not really for looks or cost. ITS to waste our time and money lowering productivity is profitable for them but bad for environment and real economy.

process:
make battery compartments and let people lift them out of the vehicle basically the panels on the floor can be removed. this would be making seats easily removable if they choose.
revealing the underbelly.

For solar: ev.
top hood and sometimes the back if there is enough room run the panels into the car trims to hide the wires.
for diy types all we need to do is make the panel colors match the car and layer it around but make it look good is the challenge.
for the top of the vehicle no one cares too much.
this should run you 400 for top and 200 for hood then the back itself may be another 100-200.
that is 600-800 watts.

sion if you do the sides like doors would run another 300-400 watts making it closer to 1000-1200 watts generated per hour in ideal conditions since its not most likely 500-800 watts is likely. more than enough to charge 30 miles a day. that is 5 dollars per day or 5 x 365 = 1825 saved per yr and 18250 saved per life of the car as batteries last 10 yrs at least based on solar panel advertisement of lasting 20 yrs I guess you can use it as a generator for 20 yrs to produce 36500 in value.
solar panels are also going down in price to become about 75 per 100 watts and can be lowered to 50 per 100 watts meaning 500-600 dollars for the panels.

The panel isn't the cost of production it is really the labor and design then.
cutting out the middlemen you can produce this system if you choose to diy for about 1000-2000 most likely.
the challenge is finding a way to charge the battery that is restricted while driving. if they let us have 2-3 batteries reserved for charging that would be another solution.

say a fast charging 1000whr lifepo4 battery used purely for charging from solar then feeding it into the vehicle when it's parked slow charge to save on the battery issue.
this hybrid type charging method should save the battery from charge cycles as a result.
that 1000 whr lifepo4 battery can now be had for 500 dollars as a design it can be easily replaceable this should also be enabled for 1800 w power outlet for 3 prong house plugs to run appliances

I might be missing something here but title shows 28.8 and yours 35.7. Is this because you did not get base? Just very strange posting title.

As long as electric works for people. If you rent a home with no charger, apartments, condo, etc. That kind of kills the deal. Buy yeah base Y are stupid cheap after rebate.
Yeah. Or drive to see some family a couple + times a year ( And they live 500, 600 and 800 miles away.

might want to look into cost to insure or repair a Tesla. They are only going to get cheaper next year that federal subsidies are running out that's supporting their price

Best advice I've read on the internet in a long while! Not sure I'd be able to follow the advice though, I think it's human nature to do this, certainly in my nature to.

My second car ever was a 1988 Mazda 626... Used to get 30+ MPG on that thing reliably on every single tank... Driving all over Chicago... 35 years later, MPG is the same?? Just seems we've lost the innovation edge, and EVs are by no means the answer, batteries are not cheap to replace and the range especially in cold Miodwestern states truly sucks...
I mean that 626 probably weighed nothing in comparison to modern cars and the engine was probably far less powerful (which is fine, but the American market is all about horsepower). Still things could be better but it is what it is. Big oil isn't just gonna let us have our cake and eat it too after all.... LMAO
