Mazda is having a hard time moving inventory. I bought a new CX-5 Signature at the peak of the pandemic shortages with 0.9% financing and $1000 below MSRP.

I absolutely love the car. As absurd and silly as this sounds, it's far more Cayenne than RAV-4. My only complaint is that gas mileage is mediocre to poor.

One thing i've learned in life is, once you make a large purchase, like a house or car, etc. Just stop looking and researching, you'll only be disappointed

Driving 3+ hours mostly nonstop on a brand new car is not a great idea for engine wear. Unless you are modulating your RPM/speed almost constantly. (no load, medium load). This allows the engine to wear all friction areas at similar rates instead of just burning in one RPM for 2 hours.

Got a 22 CX5. So many little quality of life things I hate.
  • Remote start is app only, not on keyfob (and it goes subscription based after a few years). The difference between grabbing my keys and hitting the remote start button, vs getting out my phone, unlocking it, opening the app, hopefully the facial rec works, otherwise enter my password (every time), dismiss any 'notifications' (like "deals") then press and hold the start button. Which will send the command via the cloud, so it might take a few minutes, or just not work at all.
  • Hate the lack of a touch screen, and the controls and clunky for radio etc.
  • Navigating the screen is challenging as you only have a scroll wheel to move around the screen, at it's often frustratingly unintuitive what item is 'next' when you scroll.
  • Remote start turns off as soon as you open the door,
  • you can't leave it running and lock it with the keys in your hand (running inside the gas station or whatever).
  • The 'hold' feature puts the parking break on if you unbuckle your seatbelt before turning the car off, even if it's in park first (so you have to go park, turn off engine, unbuckle seatbelt. Otherwise, the next time you start the car, the parking brake will unexpectedly be on.
  • Car will auto lock if you get 0.04 inches away from it, but if you open the tailgate, it won't auto lock. So walking around the car you'll have to unlock it again, but if you grab something from the back and walk away, it'll stay unlocked. Exactly the opposite of what I'd prefer.

Just lots of nit-pics that will likely prevent me from buying another one.

New owner of a 2024 CX5 signature trim and just wonder what is your guys experience on Mazda's paint work. Does it justify to do front PPF while the car is new if I intend to keep the car for 10 years?

Makes no sense. Engines are designed for operating at their normal running temperature so using your car for driving long distances is much better than only driving short distances without sufficient time to let your engine and oil warm up

My Mazda service thought I had checked VIP service and did free oil change for three years , I thought I purchased the plan but I didn't and they didn't check when I told them, it was fun though to get three years free oil change.

tesla price has been normal for quite some times. their price is the same or cheaper compare to 2019.

it is everyone else that has been jacking up their price. why do you think model y is the second highest in new vehicle registration in Q3 2024.

it is other vehicle company slowly (and reluctantly) to the idea of reducing price.
I assume that is in California and not relevant to the rest of the world?

If you want electric you can get a Tesla model y for not much more than this after federal and state rebates. They have inventory available for about $41k pre taxes. Then $7500 back in fed tax rebates (if you made over $65k ish) plus whatever state rebates you have. My state has $2k
You only get the "rebate" if you owe $7,500 in taxes. It's not like you're getting a check for any of that amount. Not even a penny. And your household income has to be less than $300k.
