$18 for the Deluxe without State is the best I've seen this year, and just a few dollars more than what I paid last year. I'm in.

Here's my history for Deluxe without State, including tax:

2021 - $14.93
2022 - $16.00
2023 - $19.20

Prior to 2021 I had to buy the Premium version, so that's less useful to compare.

Actually, you are misleading people based on Block's misleading charts. They want to upsell, and you are helping them along taking unnecessary money out of the consumer's pocket. I have already purchased and installed Deluxe, and it does Schedule C just as it has always. It also does rental income which is something else the chart misleads about and just about any and all typical or complicated returns. The only thing it does not do is corporate income. I have already commented on this a few posts back. If you needed some clarification, you could have just asked. You must calm yourself and not side with the salesmen so much.

In fact, all versions Basic, Deluxe and Premium have and fill in the exact same forms. The only difference is in the amount of guidance you get. I have never found deluxe to lack any guidance to do any business income and expenses. It does everything from depreciation, business vehicle expenses, to the home office deduction and has more than enough guidance.

You can parrot what the marketers say and link to misleading marketing materials or you can listen to somebody that knows. This comes up every year and I warn people of it every year and even created Wiki that explains the situation.

This all caused me great concern one year when I saw people saying here on SD that Deluxe does not do Schedule C. I had already purchased a boxed version as I had been using Deluxe for many years to do my taxes and thought they had made some change. Long story short the only thing that changed was their marketing strategy, the software did just as it had all the previous years.

Not trying to be rude but please don't come out swinging like that when you are sharing misleading information supplied by the people that want our money that you have not researched and verified yourself. This is SD and it is supposed to be for the consumer, we don't share misinformation that makes other members pay more for something that is not needed.

I can understand it and excuse it as Block does its best to make you think you need a higher version when you don't but as a SD member and supposed smart consumer you have the responsibility to find out for yourself and not take a salesman's word for it before you start spreading misinformation that can cost somebody else. I am not worried about an apology, but it would be a courtesy to everybody that may be new here to get your post down as to not have somebody in these tight times be wasting money.

Looks like $20 is the new low price for Deluxe plus State with inflation. Last year it was $17.49 on Jan 14th but we may never see that price again the way things are going up in this economy.

the link that i saw was for the vendor comparison page, that he posted specifically states that it is for multiple versions of the downloadable software... every link is labeled as "downloadable".

he specifically stated that it was "(downloadable software, not the online version)", and he was correct.

Not that this thread needs any more confirmation about the differences between software and the upsale tactics but just wanted to chime in that I too have been using the deluxe version only for my needs for years. I have rental properties and other needs and this does it all.
x2 on all that, rental property and schedule c for self-employed businesses are both covered with the retail boxed/downloadable deluxe version.

paying for the web version doesn't make sense to me, i want software that can be re-installed later, in case of future tax issues, without having to pay for it all over again: https://www.hrblock.com/tax-softw...tions.html

that only goes back five years, but there is no statute of limitations if you failed to file or the irs thinks that you filed a fraudulent return.

I posted a screen capture of my purchased version that is installed on my home computer that I got from Newegg a few weeks back.

There is an online web edition of Deluxe. It does not do Schedule C or rental income just as I said in my response to the other SD member.

Notice I used the proper term of "online". The SD member posted this information which is for the online version

That is information for the online versions. You can buy access to the online version, but it does not install on your computer and is web-based version. As I said it is kind of confusing and a rip-off as the web version does not do schedule C or rental income among other things.

My version and screen caps are from the digital version downloaded directly from Newegg and I installed it on my computer. Digital versions are the exact same software that comes on a CD in the boxed version.

Your confusion this time is you using the word downloadable l like it has the same meaning as online when it does not. Again, I advise to try to know before you get all worked about things you do not understand or know about. We can maybe help you understand if you would just take a breath and calm yourself and quite worrying about being right. You don't even know the game and you are calling fouls on others.

Block Deluxe online does not do Schedule C
Block Deluxe digital (versions that install on your computer) do Schedule C.

That gets us to the other confusion where Block likes to make it appear that digital or boxed Deluxe does not do Schedule C when it does. That to, I already explained to you. If you go to Blocks website or call one of their reps and ask them, what version do I need for Schedule C they are going to tell you Premium when that is in fact not the case.

All I have said here I have already said and explained clearly in multiple posts. Why you continue to ignore it and continue to confuse others is on you.
I blocked you so I did not have to sort through your numerous long winded verbose diatribes on this software and for some reason the Slickdeals blocking feature does not work. Can any mods help me block this guy?

Sorry to offend just trying to make sure people do not pay extra for something they don't need and are sure of what they are getting. Misinformation and confusion are heavy in the thread due to some not knowing what in the hell they are talking about. The ignore feature works for me, you are added to it as I always block people that do long winded posts about personal issues that have nothing to do with the deal. You can take a guess as to who is on it.

See that.
You know what that is? It is the awkward silence when you realize you have run into a someone that is dealing with the voices in their head and not the conversation you are having.

Paying for the web version is even worse when you realize it is limited and does not do business income. I have seen customer reviews where people assumed that Deluxe online is the same as Deluxe digital and paid more money for web version to only find out they cannot do their self-employment taxes with Deluxe online.

Not just having your stuff local but having the ability to play with tax scenarios and numbers during the year to see tax saving strategies and the ability to do free amended returns are also big reasons to use the installed version.

Does the Deluxe cover Schedule C for single member LLCs (filing as sole prop), including deductions?

I can never get a clear answer for this... best I've heard is that Deluxe does include Schedule C, but Premium (as well as the "Premium + Business") has a better questionnaire to claim the deductions.

If anyone has actually compared both versions and is in a similar situation, would love to hear.
Ive always used the premium business version for several single member LLCs

You don't need it as I do the same with Deluxe. Maybe premium offers some guidance or something extra but it is not anything I ever missed, and I delve into every possible tax deduction and saving strategy.
I used HR BLock Premium last year because I had rental property income. Also because of rental property, I have always used TT Premier before but decided to switch to HRB last year. Just to be 100% sure, with rental property income, HRB Deluxe is all I need even if their website does not include it?

Last year I gave a couple folks the keys and a d/l link to premium, since I used only 2 of the 5 federal files.

It would be great if someone returned the favor, deluxe is fine Smilie
Hwo does the sharing work? Let's say I used one for myself and gave another to a friend, they wouldn't be able to see my tax, correct?

Does anyone have issues installing it on your Mac? I downloaded it and when I try to install it, it gives me an error message. Says something like it has to be installed through App Store. And when I go to App Store there is no app for H&R.

all versions of all software programs are digital, and the computers that they run on are digital.

this is another good example of you not having a clue what you are talking about... i feel sorry for anyone trying to wade thru your barrage of conflicting words LMAO

as the other poster indicated, it's time to put you on ignore.

Used H&R Block last year. It's just as good as TurboTax but costs less, and you can import previous years TurboTax returns. Thanks. Will use this this year

I can also confirm Deluxe does do 1099-B (or at least it has for me the last 5 years). I don't do many trades, but my work offers ESPP so Deluxe works fine when I sell that stock.

Be careful and double check your work if you sold ESPP stock because H&R Block (and TT too) have horrible prompts that could make you double tax yourself.

Bought deluxe version. Thanks op.

Can I use my product key twice to activate both mac and PC installation? I may need to install both versions, as my PC is not stable at this time.
