$18 for the Deluxe without State is the best I've seen this year, and just a few dollars more than what I paid last year. I'm in.

Here's my history for Deluxe without State, including tax:

2021 - $14.93
2022 - $16.00
2023 - $19.20

Prior to 2021 I had to buy the Premium version, so that's less useful to compare.

Actually, you are misleading people based on Block's misleading charts. They want to upsell, and you are helping them along taking unnecessary money out of the consumer's pocket. I have already purchased and installed Deluxe, and it does Schedule C just as it has always. It also does rental income which is something else the chart misleads about and just about any and all typical or complicated returns. The only thing it does not do is corporate income. I have already commented on this a few posts back. If you needed some clarification, you could have just asked. You must calm yourself and not side with the salesmen so much.

In fact, all versions Basic, Deluxe and Premium have and fill in the exact same forms. The only difference is in the amount of guidance you get. I have never found deluxe to lack any guidance to do any business income and expenses. It does everything from depreciation, business vehicle expenses, to the home office deduction and has more than enough guidance.

You can parrot what the marketers say and link to misleading marketing materials or you can listen to somebody that knows. This comes up every year and I warn people of it every year and even created Wiki that explains the situation.

This all caused me great concern one year when I saw people saying here on SD that Deluxe does not do Schedule C. I had already purchased a boxed version as I had been using Deluxe for many years to do my taxes and thought they had made some change. Long story short the only thing that changed was their marketing strategy, the software did just as it had all the previous years.

Not trying to be rude but please don't come out swinging like that when you are sharing misleading information supplied by the people that want our money that you have not researched and verified yourself. This is SD and it is supposed to be for the consumer, we don't share misinformation that makes other members pay more for something that is not needed.

I can understand it and excuse it as Block does its best to make you think you need a higher version when you don't but as a SD member and supposed smart consumer you have the responsibility to find out for yourself and not take a salesman's word for it before you start spreading misinformation that can cost somebody else. I am not worried about an apology, but it would be a courtesy to everybody that may be new here to get your post down as to not have somebody in these tight times be wasting money.

Looks like $20 is the new low price for Deluxe plus State with inflation. Last year it was $17.49 on Jan 14th but we may never see that price again the way things are going up in this economy.

I used HR BLock Premium last year because I had rental property income. Also because of rental property, I have always used TT Premier before but decided to switch to HRB last year. Just to be 100% sure, with rental property income, HRB Deluxe is all I need even if their website does not include it?
100% you don't need Premium for rental income. See my earlier posts, all versions up to Premium do the same forms. For the vast majority of people unless you are doing corporate or partnership income taxes. Deluxe or even Basic will do what you need. The only difference in the software versions is the number of prompts and guidance you get.

That includes those that are self-employed, renting homes and those getting 1099s. Deluxe even does single member LLCs which is a form of incorporation but legally set up as pass-through income and is done on a Schedule C.

See the attached screenshots form my installed version and you can see that any and all income is handled as long as it is not incorporated business income.

I can't keep up answering all questions and you can see by reading the thread that other members here that have sense have confirmed what I say as true, don't let a few goofballs that do not know what they are talking about, or Block's marketing confuse you.

Ive always used the premium business version for several single member LLCs
You may have but you do not need to. I'm 100% sure that you probably took the guidance of Block's marketing materials that are almost outright deception. You did not answer the question posed you just advised someone as to what you did. Appreciate the willingness to help and contribute but am concerned that your post may just confuse someone if they do not read the whole thread.

Single member LLC is treated as pass though income and is treated the same way as 1099 income or any self employment income is. LLCs were specifically created that way to give liability protection to a small business yet ease the tax complexity for those running small business. If your income goes on a Schedule C which it does Deluxe will handle your return.

I have several properties and use Deluxe. Premium is a waste of money.

Have you ever used Premium and if so, can you tell what extra guidance if any was of any value or is it all just fluff?

Deluxe handles all the same forms as Premium. Crypto is just capital gains or losses and they are covered in the income section.

It is a good idea to read through the thread on a deal you are interested in. Usually, you will see all your questions answered and that one has been. Yes, it differs the online version. The online version costs more and does less.

How does this compare to Turbotax for Home & Business? I have never used H&R Block before... do you need to pay a tax professional in addition to getting this software?

Why is it so much cheaper than Turbotax?

Can Deluxe version handle Schedule K-1?
I believe so BUT AM NOT 100% positive it is not something I have ever done, and I have limited knowledge of how partnerships work. From what I do understand K1s do report pass-through income and Deluxe handles all pass-through income. It just cannot file corporate returns.

In the income section there is a section for K1s as you can see in my screen caps.

I plugged a test number into the K1 reporting, Box 1(Ordinary Income) and that carries over to Schedule E. That then gets to the 1040 by way of Schedule1 (Line 5: Rent royalty, partnerships) and ends up ultimately on the 1040(Line 8 Other Income from Schedule 1).

That all looks 100% right to me and that all that makes me think 100% it works but it is your call. It should do any personal tax return and if the money is pass-through income or loss to you, you should be good.
