Our next door neighbor, when I was a kid, worked at a Lego factory. If a kit was missing even one piece, they tossed it into the discard pile - well, that's what I remember. He brought home all those kits, and we had endless Legos, boxes and boxes. Yeah, we had it good.

Anything licensed definitely has an upcharge included too that goes back to the license owner (Disney). Compare a set like the Saturn V to any Marvel or Star Wars set with the same number of pieces and it's a significant difference.
