Would recommend Omega over Tudor. Tudor just gives off cheaper Rolex vibes (which is exactly what it is, a lower priced brand made by Rolex)
It's still made by Rolex tho

Okay...and Omega is made by the same company that owns Breguet...which is way more impressive than Rolex in terms of horology

does a discount of less than 3% qualify as a SD?

Uhhh, not the same comparison. The guy who started Rolex was also the same guy who started Tudor. This was even his intention; to make Tudor the affordable Rolex. Breguet and Omega were just bought by the same company.

Doesn't seem like you have kept up with the brand over the last 15 years, or have a discerning eye.

A side by side of a BB58 and a sub looks like a very different watch and certainly doesn't look cheap.

Omega has a great history but the bezel action is terrible compared to the BB58 and a far less versatile large and thick case. And check Adam Savages video if you think Omega is bullet proof reliable.

The BB58 is it's own thing and Tudor has carved out it's own style and niche.

Rolex cope. Buy an omega if you are going to... You'll always be "I'm buying a tool watch made by Rolex, it's not a Rolex tho"
Hardly.

The Tudor black bay is a much better looking watch than the submariner for starters. It's also available with a 43mm case in the bronze bay line for under 4k. The submariner by comparison looks extremely dated and appears laughably small on anyone who doesn't have frail little arms. Hence they are almost exclusively sold to desk divers as status symbols.

Most people who actually work for a living (instead of sitting behind a desk all day) would need to spend around 12k for a comparable sized Rolex to avoid looking like they have a nickel strapped to their arm. Hardly worth the money considering you can get better looking watches that perform just as well most work environments and have nearly identical accuracy.

Sure, the Rolex dive models at those price points can go a lot deeper, but don't even begin to pretend you'd ever come close to the 200m rating of the black bay. Honestly I'd wager you don't actually know much about watches in general, other than Rolex are expensive so they must be better. People who buy watches as status symbols are absolutely pathetic.

And he died over 60 years ago. The two are different houses now and not built by the same team, etc

If I were in the market for a $1000 watch, can someone here persuade me that this timepiece is worth its price point?

Tudor is one of my favorite watch makers. It's easily on par with Omega which is exactly reflective on price point and it actually holds its value as well.

This, not hard to verify that the Tudor has an independent factory, own movements, their own suppliers all physically distinct from Rolex production.

Okay, still started by the same guy, not sure what you're trying to comment on.

The most popular watch sizes are between 36 and 40mm though...41mm submariner wears well probably up to an 8 inch wrist and unless you're Jeff dabe you probably aren't there. Large watches are going back out of style again in recent times

By this logic, just buy a Tudor and never an overpriced Rolex.
