Well.. it's probably annoying if you've set an alert for 'generator' deals and 4/5 matches are actually just Battery/Inverter combos like this.

At any rate... $1359+tax is pretty solid for a Delta Pro, even if it is refurb... EF still warranties it for 5yrs.

Can we stop calling batteries generators?

30 years in the power industry. I know exactly what a generator is. We don't even call our battery storage facilities generators.... they are (dun dun duuunnn)... batteries.
If you plug a solar panel into it and it produces electricity, is it a generator? That link says yes.

No then it would be solar charging a battery. A generator takes physical energy and converts it to electricity. An exercise bike could be one. The alternator in your car is one. A fuel cell is not.

Over time, battery storage price will continue to drop. After you buy it'll drop further. It's just a matter of how long you want to wait vs. need.

The point here is, Conventional gas generator DO NOT GENERATE electricity, but we still call it a GENERATOR. But if we call a power station with solar panel a GENERATOR, everyone loses their mind. Both DO NOT GENERATE electricity. No such thing in the universe that can.

But I get it, you are not physicists and you do not understand all these Law of Conservation of Enrgy thing.

You can bypass the battery and the solar panel will still convert the sun's energy to electricity.

People are so dumb.

I would consider that a generator depending on size...either that or I would consider it a UPS. Obviously, a 100w panel and a 3800w battery pack is not really self sustaining.... just like throwing a solar panel on top of a EV and calling it a solar powered car would not be accurate. Ultimately, though, a generator is converting kinetic energy to electrical energy. Straight up calling a battery a generator just doesn't make sense... if anything, it creates a loss of power.

Not sure where you got your own rule of defining what a generator is. Your conventional generator gets it from fossil fuel (chemical energy) then to heat energy then to kinetic then to electrical energy. Your Conventional Gas generator doesn't come with gasoline or propane so it won't work fresh from the store.

The same with this product, it does not come with Solar Panels that convert sun's energy to electrica; energy then it can store it to this unit for later use.

None of these TWO are really called GENERATOR because they do not generate electricity. They only convert energy from one form to another until it gets to the electric form we need because we both know that energy cannot be created out from nothing it can only converted from one form to another.

Did anybody else purchase the refurb Delta Pros and receive them in pretty bad condition? I picked up two - both are coated in dirt/dust, and what I'm guessing is pet hair on the outside and on the inside of the port covers. Also had one show up throwing an error code right off the bat. I'm reaching out to EcoFlow now to figure out what's going on, but also reaching out here in case others have had a similar experience on this deal.

I missed this deal but had purchased one refurbed DP under the Black Friday $1599 deal.

Aside from the accessories box being previously opened and the power cord being rewrapped, the unit and packaging looked new - like perfectly new. I may have just gotten lucky. I've been running it for 3 weeks without issue.

I'd reach out to Ecoflow on eBay and get them to make it right. If not, I'd send both units back and wait for the next sale. Lithium batteries costs are dropping steadily, the new Ultra is being released, more competition, etc all lead to more pricing pressure for these products.

$1359 is a helluva deal, but still a lot of money to not be totally happy with the purchase.
Good luck!

I'm working with them now and so far they're responsive, but it's very "tier 1 support". They're talking about replacing the non-operational one.

My my biggest concern is that if they missed cleaning the units, they missed testing and refreshing any hardware that might have needed replacement. I'll update one we get a resolution. Hopefully this is just a one-off QC SNAFU.

Mine arrived in a worn, mushy box and the unit has a weird 6" scratch/splotch. It's clearly a used unit, not refurbished like new.

I reached out to ecoflow & they offered a camping lantern that I don't need, or exchange if the unit itself is defective. I guess they just shipped whatever was in the back of the returns warehouse -- disappointing.

All I know is that every light and outlet is hot with 110. We used a 220 surplus volt dryer circuit that wasn't being used because I have a gas dryer. So I guess that I am feeding both 110 legs of my main panel with 30 amps of 110 from the delta pro.
Is that backing feeding?
