I have a HP DL380P that I use as a Proxmox server for virtualization and NAS. I paid $150 for it. It started out with 16GB of RAM and 8 x 2.5" drive bays (in retrospect, I should have gotten the LFF 3.5" version). Now it has 48GB RAM and 16 drive bays. Plus I added TPM and bought a low-end graphics card for it (GT 730).
Check out some YouTube videos if you're interested in starting a homelab and you'll see there are a ton of options.
