Except those $200 ones don't auto empty, auto clean mop pads, refill water tank, dry mop pads, lift mop pads on rugs, etc. Those features are huge if you want something that requires less maintenance

these newer ones with the vibrating mop pads or rotating pads that self-clean are very good. Ive had the s7 maxv ultra for over a year, my parents and friends have the q revo and its nothing but praise how much of a game changer they are

The S7 has improved object detection, plus its mop vibrates instead of spinning. As for my Q Revo, got it on Black Friday and it's been a game-changer. I've got almost 3000 sq ft to clean, and now, no more manual floor washing for me.
s7 max (NOT maxV) has pretty much the same as q revo's object detection - not amazing

MaxV has a RGB camera in the front, so object detection is pretty good.

They just released the Q Revo MaxV in china, I hope they bring it to the states. Their whole thing about removing the camera on the front in this gen robovacs (s8 included) was because people complained about privacy.

This is going to be nice if Costco treats this like the Winix hepas, and discounts it every 4-6 months or so.

I was deterred from roborock due to having to replace the bags, but I see this one is bagless? Ours will fill up quickly due to two heavily shedding dogs so I want to make sure that I'm not buying something that has significant continuous costs. I got the shark matrix 2 in 1 (for ~$350), but am contemplating returning it for this. Any input? Thanks in advance.

I have a Q7 Revo and can attest that it's a fantastic machine. I've had robot vacuums since the original roomba, probably owned 15 different ones, including some of the latest from irobot, and the Q7 Revo is flawless in my opinion.

It does use bags. But they last about a month or two depending on usage. The bags are competitively priced on Amazon.

thank you.
On the Costco website, it's listed as bagless, do you know what it's referring to then?

Stop being lazy and save some money
That's why I got rid of my dishwasher and washer dryer. I just wash dishes by hand, wash my clothes in the bathtub, and hang dry everything. No need for a microwave neither. Everything is heated on the stove. I saved so much money. I saved even more money because I have no time to spend the money I saved because all my spare time is spent mopping, doing dishes, and washing clothes.

It has a bag in the dock that needs to be replaced. There are ways to reuse it a few times though supposedly.

There no bag inside the robot, just a dustbin that you can pull out and empty yourself.

On a model like this with a dock, the robot goes to the dock when it's full and the dock sucks everything from the dustbin into a bag inside the dock. You just replace the bag in the dock when it fills up.

Third party bags can be found for about $2.50/each as part of a multipack on Amazon.

Roborocks are pretty good at mopping. I have two S7s and I really like them.

This does use bags. I think shark makes the only bagless. I was following your train of thought, but eventually bought the Q Revo. I have a dog that sheds like crazy. The bag lasts me about 2 months. You can buy the oem bags through aliexpress for cheap. The main thing with the bag is, there's no mess. With bagless, in my experience, the dust gets into everything and degrades the life of the product, and you wind up spending equal money on filter replacements. For me, spending 20$/year on bags is worth it after seeing how simple it is. That being said, I've seen a 3rd party reusable bag that has a zipper. Not sure how great it is.

3rd party bags are pretty reasonable(around $1.5/ea). If you're so inclined, you could also extend the bag service life by using a vacuum with a narrow hose to pull what it has collected; but tbh these are pretty affordable and the changeout is fairly infrequent.

The bagless part refers to the robots dustbin

Rather expensive. My view on the robot vacs is that you are better off getting one of the ones Walmart had for under $200 several weeks ago and just replacing them every 2 years or so rather than buying premium ones over $500.
You're probably spending more in the long run if you need to replace it every two years. These should last a lot longer.
