If you want super low profile use, don't forget you need a Craftsman MaxxAcess or Gearwrench pass-through ratchet.

These will work with a regular 3/8 or 1/4" ratchet, but you loose the low profile advantage.

Or a thumbwheel ratchet if not much torque is needed. Also useful sometimes.

has SAE hex been a thing after '1980 ? don't need all those, would rather have double metric for when I loose the 6 and 8 mm and T25

Just get a bit ratchet and use 1" bits. I suppose pass through socket sets have their place but this isn't needed.

It doesn't. Only makes sense if your preferred ratchet is a pass through style so you don't have to swap to a conventional ratchet. If these were as short as my dual drive halfcut bits from Mayhew, I'd be interested to try them out, but they're not even close.
