Product Name: | Splendor Board Game |
Product Description: | Splendor is a fast, elegant, and intuitive game in which two to four players compete to build Renaissance Europe's most lucrative and prestigious jewelry business. You begin by collecting raw gems and use those to fund the development of mines throughout the world. Once you've mined more gemstones, you must acquire the means to transport them, artisans to shape them, and finally a storefront where you can sell your polished jewels. If you produce exactly the right jewelry, a powerful Noble may become your patron, but even then they won't just hand you victory: the player whose business earns the most prestige wins. Deceptively easy to learn, Splendor involves quick strategic thinking and produces intense interpersonal competition! |

I think this is the lowest price ever for Splendor - which is a great family/kid game.
I should know, I bought it. It is a good game though and not that difficult.
Was a good addition to my less than $15 collection. This holiday season outside of Jaws of the Lion, the picks have been sort of slim.
It's pretty much a themeless abstract where you get colors to get points, which also give you permanent colors so you can get even more points.
Meh.
For me, there are far more interesting engine builders as well as more tactically interesting abstracts out there.

Could you please advise any game that satisfy your mentioned feature or taste?
Can't think of an exact apples to apples. But here are some relatively easy to pickup games I prefer.
Project L is a super easy to pickup engine builder.
Fantastic Factories is another fun engine builder.
Little Town is a great little worker placement/engine builder.
Floriferous is a pretty little set collection game.
A few other interesting, but nearly abstract games I dig are Kingdom Builder, Renature, Paris City of Lights

When you read the box, you think it's going to have more mechanics in it that fit the theme of mining or jewelry making.. When you play it, you realize the theme is really just images on the pieces and any theme could have been applied.
Still, for the $7.50 I paid, I don't think you can lose.
