My parents owned a carry out ( ie restaurant where you buy and leave , no seating ) and so I grew up around griddles.

It's just my opinion that all kitchens should be equipped with griddles , and then maybe one or two burners for liquid boiling.

Things griddles do better:

- overall speed of cooking
- cooking more food
- much less messy , both while cooking and less dishes
- better heat management via zones
- surface lasts a lifetime
- easier to clean , faster to clean
- more versatile

Things burners do better :
- boil liquid
- cooking meals for a single person a handful of times a week

Once you get a griddle ( which is not that hard) .. you'll wonder why these aren't the default cooking surfaces for everyone. You can cook up a four course breakfast for 8 people in 10 minutes, and clean the whole thing grease and all in less than 30 seconds. Just pour water into the hot surface , swipe with your griddle knife thingy and good to go.

I have only owned a grill forever. I downsized to a Weber spirit 2 burner that has about the same cooking surface area as a Blackstone 22". In the winter, my grill gets little use but a " portable" Blackstone is tempting as I can store it in the garage and set it up quickly just outside my garage even in the winter months.

Two of my neighbors got Blackstones last year and swear by it, they barely use their grill now. They say burgers are amazing.

My kids love smashburgers from Culver's. My family loves breakfast on a griddle (bacon, pancakes, French toast, eggs). These are all things I can sort of do on an old electric griddle indoors but it makes a mess and isn't ideal for everything.

Also been wanting to do hibachi, yakisoba and more griddle cooking.

While I could add a cast iron griddle to to my Weber, I like the idea of a separate Blackstone type griddle with a convenient grease collection system that doesn't drip into the burner area. Also with it being portable, I can use it anywhere and foresee getting more use out of it especially in the winter months.

I am torn between this and this version from Walmart that includes the stand.

The hood in this model can be used while cooking, the other that hooks on, is not rated for use while cooking. That's the main difference for me

So wtf, both sides have made compelling arguments

Question for all,
Should people buy Blackstone?
If you want it buy it. Don't listen to these individuals saying you can do the same on this or that. You can cook on heated rocks, why even have pans. Why use spoons or forks when you have hands! Lol

The nexgrill has a cast iron enameled top, so it doesn't have to be seasoned like an uncoated Blackstone top.

However, I don't know how well the enamel coating will hold up over time to metal utensils (spatulas, scrapers) so if the coating starts to chip or come off, then the top is done for.

This is why I went the Blackstone route

Why do people spend so much just to fry an egg?
Why do people drive 60,000 dollar pickups for everyday use? American gluttony.

I think the initial argument is regarding the size of this griddle, but maybe not.

I'd personally go for full-sized. I was looking at a full sized one with 2 airfryer baskets and a food warmer a couple years back (walmart deal) for like $240. The benefit of this is being portable I guess. If portability is important then this aint bad I suppose.

I've heard many good things about blackstone. I saw a charbroil recently for cheap on FP, but lots of reviews complaining about it not getting hot enough or the griddle warping. Hard to tell on face value whether its user error or just a bad product, but I feel like Blackstone has a fairly good reputation.

Personally I like the extra surface area and being able to cook outside without making a mess in the kitchen. Whether Blackstone is better than other griddles with similar size/specs is up for debate.
Everything is up for debate even debate 😆 There was a time when folks just reviewed the product not a person's life choices. It's crazy

I have this. I think the thickness of the plate is on the thin side. Mine is heat warped/domed a bit which makes my eggs and batter slide to the edges. Anyone else have this problem? I'm at the point of calling Blackstone low quality.

I have the 36" Blackstone from Costco but I have several people to cook for.. I LUV cooking on this thing. I have always had propane grills and electric smokers and find myself using them much less. I can have a ton of food on it and everything cooks quickly. You do have to plan your cook time for each thing you're cooking so everything can kinda be done at once. This smaller one would be great for a couple. They sell a stand for it on Amazon if u want to make it more of a permanent fixture to your patio.

Have you always heated it up quickly on high?

I can tell you don't cook if you think this is just for frying eggs 😂
