Deal History

If you're not part of the expired D15 thread, some of us have internal crossover damage. You might wanna pull off the binding post cover (4 Allen screws) and see if anything was broken loose in shipping. Something about Def Tech's packaging and UPS gorillas results in damaged crossovers. I ordered several of the older BP series Def tech speakers years ago and several had damaged crossovers from being dropped.
It looks like an inductor near the back is subject to snapping loose.
these will be less in the future guaranteed ! $600 or so to get rid of them.
We shall see. The D15's are selling out at the $500 price. Someone in the other thread had access to inventory numbers. These may sell out at this price. They only have so many.
Regardless, I'm glad I got the D15's. They're as large as I'd want to go.
Interesting, the speakers are being shipped from Salt lake City, Utah. Nice to know that Adorama has a warehouse closer to where I am in Socal. I figure the less distance traveled that I'm more likely to receive items undamaged.

I plan on using these in a 9.2 setup. Any suggestions for a best bang for buck 9.2+ receiver? I think I saw a Pioneer 505, an Onkyo 7100, and a Denon 3800 on here. Thanks!

There is a recurring deal on both the 3800h and 4800h. Think it was 899 and 1299 respectively. There are some reported switching issues on inputs on the 3800h. Not sure if it was fixed by firmware update yet. Of the Denons, if cost matters grab the 3800h, if you have a little extra in your budget grab the 4800h. I'm holding out for the 4800h or Sony ES7000 to drop.
As for the Onkyo there are fans on SD I have never been a super Onkyo Fan but I would choose it over the Pioneer any day. But others opinion may differ. Cheers!

yep these d17 or the d15 aren't even klippel measured
Measuring in a room with klippel is the same thing as measuring out in the open, away from all boundaries that can cause reflections, and the latter is nearly "free". Lol.
D15 was measured outside by audioholics.
posted in the D15 thread but guess I'll ask here too:
anybody using these on the side of their desk as part of a computer setup? I have a mid sized office setup and was thinking of getting the KEF LSX IIs but seems I could get this with a DAC/amp for close to the same cost (or just slightly more for these)

I'm interested in the same question.
Hell my plan was for the KEF as well... until these came along.

I'm actually using the D15s this way. I have a pretty wide desk, at almost 6 feet, and so the sound stage is huge! I previously had Klipsch The Nines but they just died after about a month and a half of use. I'm currently trying to just get a refund on them but Klipsch online support is ridiculously slow right now.

oh interesting. Is the sound quality as good / better? Don't you get weird reflections off the desk surface and below (since I assume some woofer is below the desk level)

oh very nice - what source / amp are you using to power the speakers?

Had my cube for like 10+ years. Put it in a corner and enjoy the ride.
