I was able to get it done. You have to call in to cancel your current account. The cancellation order takes less an hour to finalize. Once it's cancelled, your address will be eligible to sign up for a new account. You can use the same name and SSN, just create a new FiOS online account after you place your order.

Actual disconnection came in less than 5 minutes after my call with support ended. But the cancellation order was still shown as pending for around an hour I think? Once the cancellation order went through, FiOS released the address to be eligible for new service again. You just have to wait a little before you can sign up again. Otherwise, even if you select you're signing up for a second service, their system will block your new order as there's another order (cancellation) pending.

I'd say you can get the new service activated in about 40 minutes from the moment you hang up your phone with phone support for cancellation.

I noticed that you have to purchase the Gigabyte plan to qualify. Can you downgrade to a cheaper plan (300 mb) after 180 days?

There's nothing illegal about it. It's the same with close credit card and re-open it 2-3 years and get the sign up bonus. Verizon can impose a time restriction but they don't have one for now.
You can actually call your cable TV/Internet provider (or even insurance) every year to get the lower rate. If you don't, then you just pay the higher rate.
For example, AT&T has been charged me $70/months for over a year because that was the price when I signed up for the service 3 years ago. Even though they have permanently lower the price to $55 ($35 for new sign up), they would not adjust it until I call in.

I literally signed up for this 4 days ago, and it was Series S. Now it's a Series X. Anyone know if I'd have any luck talking to Verizon to see if they can honor the new promotion?

Called in for cancellation and sign up for new service under my spouse's name. However they offered 30$ loyalty discount if I don't cancel. Took that instead Smilie

FYI I had to jump through a lot of hoops to get my gift cards in the past. Redemption site is always down and had to escalate and be transferred multiple times to finally get to the right department who could help redeem

I would really love to do this but certainly concerned how much this would impact current service especially considering I've got all my lights linked through the wifi. As noted by others I also have their router and wifi extenders so wouldn't want that impacted as well.

When I signed up for FIOS i was able to get a $200 Vz card instead of the Amazon. The Vz card is supposed to let me be able to pay the bill with it. Waiting on service install.

So, I'm about to do this, just want to make sure I've got everything straight. I'm going to call and cancel my fios, then how do I know when it's effectively canceled where I can start new service? Also, at that point, when I'm filling everything out online for promo, it gives me an install date. I'm assuming I wouldn't get actual service until that install date, correct? If not what do I do at that point to resume service immediately? And how do I reassign it to my "old" hardware?
Sorry for all the questions, I just need to keep my lack of service to a minimum. 🙂
