Alternatives to SD?

I've been using SD for almost 18 years and the deals really are lacking nowadays. What other websites are you recommending?

Yeah for real. I remember when AOL was giving away $100 for some sign up thing and people went wild. And Bing cash back was so good, I think I got 40% cashback on PS3 and Dyson vacuum. Wild times man, wild!
I also remember the Bing cash back days!

Actually I think other sites may source their deals from SD. Peace

I was a Fatwallet fan back in the day.

Some smaller websites... probably, but not the larger commission-based outlets. I'm seeing a lot of great deals not featured on SD on these sites, and then, suddenly, same deals pop up in the SD new thread "finds". I do not mean the SD staff deal hunters, but serial SD deal posters. Also, price-watching web aggregators with massive databases regularly post incredible price drops on various items. Those using them professionally could make a fortune on eBay or elsewhere.

No, not the FW, of course. Smilie

Oh wow, FW can be mentioned by name now. I forget what we used to call it... Obese pocketbook?

Truth be told, I got some baller deals on FW back in the day that I think edged even SD. But the site got worse and worse and then SD got better. I think SD was better organized with the deal displays and what not.

I know we'll continue to see truly SDs from time to time, but it won't ever be like the heyday of the 2000s. Newegg and their FAR clearance sales before they charged sales tax. I could squeeze out a few cents on the purchases with CC rewards and referral credits even after a postage stamp.

It is! I know the site has suffered, but user submissions can fix that. This site is what we make it. I always tell people that if SD has helped them in any way then they should give back.

Would be nice to have something in place to teach noobs how to hunt for deals and pass on some of our knowledge.

Why would anybody bother anymore when mods pull down posts that they don't make $$$ off of.

We only remove posts that break the rules. They might not be perfect but the intent is to reduce spam.

That's just it. It's the lack of deals over the last few years now a website problem.

I think another problem is sooooo many people now have set up bots that automatically buy ALL of price mistakes to just resell them for profits :/

I don't see how posting a deal for a inkbird thermometer would be spam. I really don't care but stumbled across it while looking for new probes for mine and found the upgraded unit with 50% off on AMZ. Pretty freaking slick imho.

It's usually because of a bad history with similar products on the forum. Some good deals unfortunately get thrown out with the bath water Frown

I used to use Bing, for years. Only one account. Like $10/month earned.
Out of nowhere they emailed me and said I violated terms/rules and deactivated my account (with $10 they won't let me claim.) I emailed back asking for an explanation, no response.
Has this happened to anyone else??
