Earn 1pt on every $1 spent (excluding gift cards, taxes, LQO)

Earn "starting at" 100pt for ink cartridges (still limited per month to something)

Associates actually get earned rewards now at the same rate plus we get 400pts for ink recycling

Points don't expire as long as you shop at staples within 18 months to stay active

You can earn bonus double points on select categories (tech items, ink and toner, P&M, chairs, etc) and you can pick up to 3 of them

App is going to have other limited time bonus offers that can be activated

Points can be redeemed at register at any whole dollar amount as long as the customer asks. (You have to first enable it on the main screen but go to the add tenders screen to see the available amount and add it)

Points are refunded when returning an item paid partially or in full with points

Points are worth a half penny each so 200pts = $1

Scroll down to the 3rd section on Staples Plus, and read the answer to the 3rd question down "How will my Staples Plus Benefits reflect the Easy rewards Program?"

https://www.staples.com/deals/staples-program-member-faqs/BI3000998?cid=EM_OPT_D&utm_source=EFA2C5EE... [staples.com]
Got it. Thank you very much!
I see now these FAQs were linked in their 1/03 email titled "Correction: We incorrectly announced our launch date for our loyalty program".

Looks like they are NOT accepting new Plus members. I wonder if existing members will be allowed to renew when their membership expires? Seems unlikely.
The Plus product pages exists but when attempting to purchase it redirects to the new Easy Rewards page.

If I cancel my Staples® Plus membership, can I sign up again in the future?
No, Plus membership is limited to current Plus members. If you cancel your membership, you won't be able to rejoin the Staples Plus program.

Looks like it will be prosperous to recycle inks through October when my Plus membership expires. After that it appears that ink will be limited to 10 inks at 100 points ($0.50) each = $5 month unless there are frequent targeted promotions. If I still have inks in my recycle box then I will stop by and recycle for $5 a month since points don't expire but I won't be purchasing any more used inks for recycling purchases. Seems the Staples rewards program is coming to a quick demise.

Actually, it seems like plus membership is still available at the link below, which is interesting, since as you said the FAQ says they are not accepting new memberships.

Interesting. I would love to know what happens if somebody purchased the Plus membership because it's Staples own FAQs that states no new Plus memberships.

And it's on sale for $19.99 here but every time I click Join Now it redirects me to the new Easy rewards program. Does not allow to purchase.

If I was not a member, I think the Plus membership would be well worth the $20 sale price. Somebody should contact CSR and attempt to buy it for the advertised sale price of $19.99.

I actually paid the $49 to purchase it and my account now show enrolled but still only 10 inks for 100 points each. I'm going to wait a few more days to see if anything changes, if not, I'd just request for a refund.

I went to do recycle today. Then bought something on another receipt. So, turned in ink carts (20) PLUS. Turned in battery for tech recycle or so I thought.

My second receipt shows I have 8600 points. 8000 would be from the ink recycle. So, 600 for the battery recycle (= $3.00). Says battery recycle on receipt.

Interesting. Please keep us posted. So maybe only existing Plus members will get the increased points until the membership expires. And new members receive the new standard Easy Rewards point amount? Definitely not worth it for $49.

Good info. Remember to check for promotions that need to be activated in your Easy Rewards account. My current promotion is 1,000 points for tech recycle.

I had the 1000 point tech offer activated. It seems batteries may be it's own category. I always got the $5 for batteries previously. My store is not nearby but someone should try and turn in a tech item and a battery to see if you can get both, The receipt should show a line for tech recycle and a line for battery recycle. Battery recycle SKU was 24535465. Is tech Recycle same or different SKU?

The website shows tech+batteries as part of the same program.

Delete spaces in the following:
www . staples . com / stores / recycling

"NEW" marked down there in the batteries section indicates that Alkaline batteries are included, which my store has always denied. This clear page might help.

I see that and i always got credited for $5 before with batteries (my store took the alkaline). I was only credited 600 points/$3 this time and had the 1000 points for tech recycling checked in my account. I guess I'll have to wait and see what others report.

Anyone else got their ink cartridges counted wrong by Staples' new software?

The online receipt shows 30 cartridges recycles (yes staples somehow offered me 30 for this month).

In the reward dashboard, their computer itemized each cartridge for points. and they only listed 29 cartridges! What a joke.

How did you make out with the new Staples Plus membership? Can you recycle 20 inks or are you still limited to 10? Did you request a refund?

Did you already recycle under the old program? I suspect that you did and the system is recognizing that as 1 ink recycled.

Happened to me as well. Waiting to see what happens.

Did you recycle for the month of February under the old program in addition to recycling under the new program with the 30 ink promotion?

I recycled early February under the old program and expect to receive $40 rewards. Then I recycled under the new program with 20 inks and received immediate point credit for 19 inks in the new rewards app.

So your issue is the same as mine.

It has nothing to do with recycling under old program.

Staples ' programmer simply doesn't know how to write a simple loop. They missed 1

Considering that no one else is complaining about missing credit for 1 ink cartridge when recycling under the new rewards program, I suspect that something else is factoring into this equation besides bad program code which would be experienced by everyone. I don't know what that is but I am guessing based on my personal experience that recycling twice in February under the old program and the new program is causing the missing credit for 1 ink cartridge. My receipt clearly showed 20 ink recycled but credit was only given credit for 19 in the new rewards program. I guess we will know March 1st when I recycle 20 inks again and see if credit is given for 20 or 19.
